Why would a cop get arrested for shooting someone about to throw a pot of boiling water at him? Seems like self-defense to me.

It seemed like she was making a joke, not threatening the cops because the cop who shot her acted scared of the water before she did anything with it. The cops were the ones to tell her to take it off the stove. The cops had no reason to enter her home in the first place.
I don't think a pot of boiling water is a lethal weapon from 20 feet away. If the cop thought the shooting was justified, he would not have changed his story to say she rushed at him, which she did not. The cop had a taser that he could have used but did not.
This shooting was not even remotely justified which is the reason the cop was fired and charged so quickly.

Unless you are a cop (I am not and I doubt you are) you or I have no idea what is going through that cops head. He has no idea what is going to happen and had to make a split second decision.

I’m convinced there are some people who will defend a cop for anything he does while on duty. It’s quite amazing the mental gymnastics some play. This guy was charged with 1st degree murder for a reason. Period. Nothing he did was justified.
