And it's been that way for a long time.
The principles that founded this country simply cannot apply on this scale, at this size, and with this much plurality.

The founders did not "solve" politics forever. They applied universal principles that have been around for thousands of years, to a a very specific group of people at a very specific time in history, in a very specific part of the world.

Individual states should make the decision if they want to continue to be apart of the American Global Empire, or would like to decentralize and break away. That of course comes with consequences and reactions that most ordinary folks would have no interest in enduring.

But you cannot have it both ways. These principles that Republicans in these states keep espousing are completely futile on this scale. The best we can do is work within the system to expose the truth as much as possible, and achieve minor, hard fought victories here and there, that on the grand scale are inconsequential, outside of any exposure it might bring.

That's why the empire needs to break apart.

Yep.

We are at a crossroads. Either we break apart and become multiple different entities or we allow for a change in the way we govern, abolishing Congress and the Courts as we know them, to make way for a strong central figure in the Executive Branch. For after all it takes an emperor to rule an empire.

It won't come until there is societal collapse. I do not believe in accellerationism or want to encourage this, but I don't see another option. As father of 4 children, that is certainly not some outcome I'm wanting my kids to live through.

But it's hard to see how this system can sustain itself at the current rate. We are all stuck on this crazy train until it completely derails.

We have a fascist system masquerading as a democratic-republic.

The IC and the mega corporations are teamed up and they run everything.

My as well just appoint a Caesar. Liberal democracies cannot function at this scale. It just becomes an identity politics d*ck measuring contest to see who can suck the most stuff out of the system. And these groups can be easily manipulated by the Oligarchs through media and entertainment to get what they want anyways.

And likewise acknowledge an ancillary point: all Empires invariably succumb to their own hubris and amour propre.

In their infinite wisdom, our founding fathers bequeathed us all the tools we need to pushback against overreach by a central government.

. . . and it is time for people to accept that this US Global Empire wants to spread a certain "culture" to the world - guess what kind of "culture" that might be?

There are far too many people content with the way things are, or too busy with their phones to be bothered. To get those people ready/willing to do something is going to require exponential change.

I suspect it will be your children's grandchildren or later that right the ship.

We do have an "Emperor" he's called The President of the United States. He has Constitutional powers that would make Caesar blush. When you figure that most emperors maybe only had a lifespan of 6 years in general, most Presidents fit the profile.

I wouldn’t use the word “empire” because it has certain nuances or meanings that aren’t applicable.

Nevertheless, American success has resulted in it having the most powerful economic, military and political force on the planet. That’s not a bad thing. It’s odd that some posters wan to minimize American power and influence. That’s a foolish aim. We will always have to deal with the rest of the world in various ways.

If anything, we are more forceful and pushy than weve ever been.

The founders attempted, futilely it seems, to quell human nature when it comes to governing.

But the reality is, humans want to be ruled. Or, at least they want to be ruled by someone they like.

The Kings of old didn't come to power by accident. Humans BEGGED THEM to take charge. And no matter how many times in world history, it turned out that having Royalty meant that one day the King you liked would die and someone you might not like would have the SAME power, humans REPEATEADLY chose this path over all others. And every time some slight change the path was tried, the moment it didn't go perfectly.......BACK to Kings!!!

This is who Humans are.

Thank God we came out victorious in WWII (the alternative would not have been thinkable) …but it forever changed the course of this nation.

WWII and “The Arsenal of Democracy” brought us out of The Great Depression (it wasn’t FDR’s New Deal).

Eisenhower saw what was developing for the future with the MIC and tried to forewarn as such before he left office. His warnings did not prevent that future.

Only if you render the word “Empire” as utterly meaningless. By any objective analysis, the reigning class in Washington D.C. oversees a sprawling military Empire.

No kidding. Now, we can have an argument over whether having a sprawling and aggressive military Empire is a good or bad thing. Yet anyone who posits that the United States is not an Imperial Power is arguing in bad faith.

Agree or not, following Europe's collapse during WWII, a philosophy of globalism became the only realistic strategy for America in the face of a mounting Cold War. As a result of Cold War necessity, the US became actively involved in the affairs of other nations, contrary to the precepts of the older Founding Fathers America First tradition. The trouble is that the Cold War is long over, while a continuing globalism has sucked our republic into an interventionist role our nation cannot possibly fulfill. Worse, such demands are destroying the foundations of the republic as the ill-conceived Patriot Act shows.

The Founding Fathers' concept of enlightened nationalism is a credo that only went into eclipse Hence, the time is ripe to take another look at that older counsel that counts domestic strength as the strongest defense in an unstable world.
