i think a lot of this has to do with trying to stop, certain groups, from 3D printing switches and illegally modifying their glocks to get clout like their favorite rapper(s)

Why do gun makers even bother with selling to California?

Most populous state in the union. Lots of gun buyers despite the states anti-gun policies. Same with muscle cars, sports cars, pickup trucks. The state does not GAF about what anybody outside of San Francisco & LA think.

If we outlawed cars in California it would positively impact automobile related fatalities in California.

And I don’t know the impact of their gun laws; maybe it’s positive, maybe there are more victims of violent crime because might makes right. Either way that’s only part of the impact and it ignores the loss of freedom as well as a host of other possible factors.

SPEEDY
There is no way those numbers are accurate from Texas all the way to South Carolina. I honestly don't know one person, that doesn't have AT LEAST one gun in their house.

Well except me. Lost all mine in a boating accident.

Texas numbers are skewed because of the large number of libs who have infiltrated the state. I honestly do not know one person in my area that does not own at least one gun of some type.

FWIW I orbit the center and pro 2A, but its hard to argue with the data as far how gun laws have positively impacted gun related fatalities in Cali. However I would not want to see it expanded on a Federal level and Newsome has stated many times that he would like to expand some gun bans at the nationally . That does not sit well with me.

Most gun deaths are suicides, and it doesn't even make up 50% of suicides.

California gun homicide rates have lowered some since 2021, but they are still higher than 10 years ago. But it is back to being lower than the suicide rate, as it also was 10 years ago. From 2020 to 2022 the homicide rate was higher than the suicide rate.

I don't think gun laws are the reason for any change here.

I've got a G21 Gen 5 and honestly I prefer the Gen 3 over the 4 and 5.

The Gen 5 triggers are garbage. Gen 3 had the nice defined wall before the crisp break. Gen 5 is mush and then - surprise!

There not one single, credible studys that links any gun-control law to a positive impact on criminal use...

Glock's decision here has nothing to do with California, that law will get struck down in due time anyway. Glock is streamlining production to make the most use of commonality among models, most of the models discontinued will simply be renamed with minor tweaks or already have a replacement (e.g. Glock 17 vs Glock 47). They'll probably modify things to prevent swapping in auto-sears via the back plate.

That map has CA with almost 10% of gun owners in the US.

But still. Imagine owning this:

Percentages are a misleading metric when talking about a percent of the population doing something. That 28% for California is still ~11.5 million people. So more than the entire population of Georgia.

The Glock guys were around the corner from me at a conference this week. I should have asked them about this.

The study on APPS(Armed Prohibited Persons System is petty solid imo and was interesting. . I think prioritizing enforcement, monitoring and confiscation of guns from felons is something most moderates would consider reasonable gun control policy and it appears to have some posit8ve effect

No, none of the very few studies where well conducted nor did they show effectiveness. It's kind of obvious when you think that seizing the firearms from one individual might have an impact on that one person but when looked at across the population as a whole the results are basically indistinguishable from the usual cycle of violent crime. The APPS has been used to target non-violent gun owners, probably a significant portion, so also obvious that taking guns away from people without a history of violent crime probably doesn't impact violent crime as a whole. Gun-control is a religion of ignorance, sooner you figure that out the better.

What price is that? The ability to use a firearm in self-defense? Something that occurs at a higher rate than criminal usage, maybe you should realize there are people here who understand this stuff at a level far beyond your educational attainment.
