Best I can figure, it's because Egypt's constitution states that the principles of Islamic Sharia are the main source of legislation.
Not sure how being arrested for manufacturing and trafficking in narcotics gets tied to Islam though...

If there’s solid proof of this then I’m fine with this. Drug traffickers should be executed. Islam is still a scourge but not for this reason

Islam is certainly from Satan, but having civil laws that are hard on drugs is not shocking. Perhaps it’s the death penalty that is more of a concern, but I don’t really have a problem with that, either. Governments can decide which laws require the death penalty. I personally think we need more death penalty sentences for egregious crimes in our own country.
Now if the issue is abuse of power and targeting an influencer for political purposes, then that is a matter of injustice and partiality that extends beyond Islam.
