Is Trump exaggerating about the US intelligence regarding the UK base "bombers?"

President Trump claimed that the US had under surveillance the five British citizens who were arrested...and have since been released on bond.
In another clip, posted below, the President claims that "We knew all about them and you will be hearing about it very soon. We got them."
I think this is just another example of the Salesman-in-Chief exaggerating to make his product look better. He's trying to take credit for the UK's good police work.
Seems like if we had actual intelligence on these 5 we would have shared that with the UK so that:
- the "bombers" would have been arrested earlier
- they wouldn't have been released on bond

Seems like the tried and true FBI saying "yea bro, they were all under surveillance already!".

Here's the claim that they we had them under investigation and that they were "looking to do big damage to our fort."

Probably not. The wacky thing is the woman who reported the suspicious activity in the first place said that the police never followed up with her about her report.
She also said that 8-10 men were involved...not 5. Who knows? I'm just confident that the arrests weren't the product of a joint US-UK intelligence operation as the President implied.

I'm not in a cult. I'm an isolationist regarding foreign policy. I think multiple presidents, Democrat and Republican, have exaggerated threats to:
-increase the power of the state
-steal God-given liberties
-to enrich their friends
Democrat President LBJ lied about the Gulf of Tonkin to involve the US in a meaningless war that killed 58,000 of our best directly and ruined countless other lives.
Democrat Hillary Clinton lied about whatever the actual facts of Benghazi were. That was shameful and dangerous. Democrat Barack Obama lied about our need to attack Libya in the first place.
So, I think it's a big deal when the Commander-in-Chief just makes up things about these incidents. Given the facts, it seems incredibly unlikely that the US had these 5 guys "under investigation." Maybe they actually ARE terrorists, but exaggerating our intelligence capabilities undermines faith in our actual intelligence capabilities.
Despite the President's claim that we will "hear about it shortly," astute observers know that means we will never hear any details to support the President's assertions.
I think it's a bad thing for the President to undermine his credibility. You don't. That doesn't mean either of us is in a cult.

Hah! The part they DON'T say out loud is they had them under surveillance, because EVERYONE is under surveillance all the time. Criminals and law abiding citizens alike.

Had they made derogatory comments on social media, the police would have been all over them though....

Is the President fricking stupid? HE'S the one who said that the US had these men under investigation. He also said that "WE know all about them, and you will hear about it very soon...WE caught them."
Listen to the President's own words. He is implying this is some great accomplishment for American (and I guess, British) intelligence. One thing is for sure: we won't hear anything "about it" from our government, because we didn't have any involvement in the investigation or arrest...despite the President's claims.

Isolationism was a key pillar of the MAGA campaign: "no stupid foreign wars." It's the opposite of TDS.
As far as the rest of my post history, you can't find any post I made which opposes anything just because Trump does it. Most of my observations are about Trump's failure to follow the law...he needs better advisors.
