Is this board a target of covert agents?

Yesterday's Glenn Greenwald Snowden disclosure exposes a wide range of covert online activities directed against online political communities.

While this board seems to be free of the worst of these tactics, some of the techniques are rife here. This chart -- of many -- is of particular interest:
There may not be any bona fide covert agents here, but there surely are a bunch of wannabe covert agents, tools of tyranny. It behooves us to be aware of these tactics and call them out when observed. It's an enlightening read.

...Claims that government agencies are infiltrating online communities and engaging in “false flag operations” to discredit targets are often dismissed as conspiracy theories, but these documents leave no doubt they are doing precisely that.
Whatever else is true, no government should be able to engage in these tactics: what justification is there for having government agencies target people – who have been charged with no crime – for reputation-destruction, infiltrate online political communities, and develop techniques for manipulating online discourse? But to allow those actions with no public knowledge or accountability is particularly unjustifiable.

"Swap the real for the false" is a tactic overtly used by the whit house.

Ever saw the letters NSA in the last few years?

This one caught my attention too. We see a lot of that here. You counter with the real, again and again, but the wannabe agent simply reasserts the false-- employing another tactic listed, "Repetition reduces vigilance."

WTF! Damn...that chart of 'techniques' is more confusing than one of my philosophical rants!
BTW, I would welcome with open arms and a glad heart, a rational apologist for the Government who'd come on here and persuade us with real wisdom. I WANT TO BELIEVE.
However, just today, Rush mentioned some Professor who has written a treatise positing the idea that Liberalism can not co-exist with FREE SPEECH. She thinks free speech should be subservient to Justice.
I don't have the Link to that bomb...and I really don't even feel like it's worth arguing. Because it's obvious that rational argument in the political discourse...is fast being ditched for the Chicago Political methodology.

Your question is not clear to me. We see NSA in the news on a near-daily bases. What do you mean?

Most likely if for no other reason than to monitor anti-regime activity and report on it. Anyone criticizing Obama on this board should be careful about not revealing ANY personal information. The Obama admin has exhibited a clear pattern of retribution against opponents. And for the record this is not partisan paranoia. I have never felt this way about any POTUS Dem or Pub.

quote:For ~ a 6 month span in 2009-2010 every political fark I did, started something like this:
Is this board a target of covert agents?
but ended up like this:
Sometimes it occurred within an hour or two.
Other times over the span of a few days.
First attack in 2009 took out every fark on my account -- Saban stuff, LSU, Tubberville, etc. Reloaded all of them, made security changes. That helped.
Subsequently the only jammed images were the political ones.
Talked with management at Photobucket, they were as befuddled as I was. It was during the flag@whitehouse.gov period. Eventually the fark trashing petered out and went away.
Creepy while it lasted though.

Photobucket sucks. Imgur FTW.
You need to switch on over to imgur. It's superior with easy accessibility, so easy to use, and easy to find everything. Imgur has no bandwidth limit and PB has one. Imgur also gives you a great deal more privacy than PB.

That's rich.

A "rational apologist for the government" is an oximoron. Your WANT betrays your well-earned ATHEISM in this regard. The persuation he would offer would be entirely characterized by the title of the posted chart. It is alarming that our government actually created a chart with that title. Marx said that deceit was a virtue in the advance of The Agenda. That value appears to be well-grounded in our government.

Heard that. Would prefer to call it Marxism rather than the now-polluted term "Liberalism." Marxist always seek to silence opposition. Marxism and free sppeech ARE indeed incompatible. "Justice" is a nice sounding word they use to characterize tyranny and persued the sheeple to give them absolute power.

Amen.

The government definitely has internet trolls on the payroll.
Youtube is infested with them.

Marxist
I really do not think it is Marxist. They are not following some play book. It is just how people are who think they know better than everyone else. They are controlling and they think anything is fair game as long as it gets them to their end game. It is some genetic disorder. Maybe narcissism or something similar.

This board has them. They do not even try and fake it. They trot out their talking points daily. They don't even pretend to play bipartisan. I see many small or no government people playing boths sides of issues. Not those drones. Lock step marching forward!
