You could cut every single non-defense federal employee in the nation and it would be around 2-3% of the federal budget. Any serious discussion of cutting the deficit has to include major cuts to entitlements (social security, medicare, medicaid, va benefits, etc) and defense spending.

Yup

I would focus on cuts to DC and outlying areas, then most of the waste would be cut

A Ranger here on the Buffalo River posted she got axed last week.
This girl was good too. She cared. Always on the Buffalo helping. Picking up trash off duty. Everyone un her area that frequented the Buffalo knew her. Her dream job.

Been a big deal amongst outdoor groups here in Arkansas. Sucks but part of the downsizing.

Maybe she will work her was back to a job.

Since when? He campaigned on a promise not to touch entitlement spending or the defense budget. Made zero significant cuts his first term and grew the deficit more than any of his predecessors by far. This has nothing to do with the deficit.

Glad there are a few on here that understand how petty and unnecessary this is. These are actually decent government employees.

Again nothing cracks me up more than fundamentalists acting righteous with zero regard for the land. Thank God Robert Kennedy is with the republicans

The budget calls for up to $4.5 trillion in new deficits through tax cuts, which Republicans plan to use to extend Trump’s expiring 2017 tax law and pass other pieces of his tax agenda.

So most of your number includes current tax rates. The writer of the article doesn't even know what is and isn't included (nor do you) but does say that renewing the current tax structure is included

So you are advocating tax increases over current federal income tax since 2017.

And that includes the doubling of the standard deduction for working families, with is a significant tax cut.

So why not say, I want to tax the middle class to reduce the deficit instead of claiming the GOP wants to "cut taxes for the rich" at the expense of a large deficit?

No

Yes, it affects roughly 100 local employees. People are enraged. Unfortunately, the cuts here seem to be a lot of field staff and not enough Bureaucracy.

Where do you think DOGE got their early numbers on 2.7 Trillion being paid out to people overseas?

This is a terrible hill for conservatives to die on, and this is going to get a lot of backlash. Just hoping they correct course on this and cut other departments instead.

Yes... reducing waste is a horrible idea.

No it won't. Why? Because he isn't doing what you stated he is doing. He sent an order down and the heads of departments are cutting waste.

Yeah.... no thanks. Waste where ever it is, get rid of it.

So all parks and rangers employees are vital? Just blanket vital?

so so vital man. Trees will stop growing and animals won't able to find food. Hikers will get lost without directions and die.

I generally like park and nfs employees as people but honestly they don't do much useful. A "dream job" for sure but that doesn't mean its an actual "job".

Yes, because that’s everything forest service employees do

You’re probably one of the asshats that drops a bud light in the lot for them pickup

Fewer rangers and forest service employees doesn’t stop you from doing any of this.
