On the surface, Landry looks like the best bet to be the next governor, but there are some signs that this is an illusion. I'm a lifelong Republican and most of the people I deal with on a day to day basis, share my politics. What is unusual is that I can't find anyone who is enthusiastic about the prospect of Landry winning. The most prevalent opinion is "anyone but a Democrat", not pro-Landry, sort of how Biden was elected on a 'anyone but Trump' platform.

I was on a fishing charter a few weeks ago, about a dozen guys, all but 3 others were strangers, politics came up while we were cleaning fish, Steven Waguespack got more positive mention than Landry.

This is going to be very interesting to watch down the stretch, I have a feeling Landry has a ceiling short of what he needs for a runoff.

Landry has done more to fight for conservative values, than any other candidate, over the last 4 years.

He fought JBE tooth and nail with his liberal crap.

My problem with Landry is he’s bought and paid for by the trial lawyers, which means nothing will change as far as the good ole boy system goes, that system has led this state to being last in everything good and first in everything bad. Landry will push right cultural issues, and I’m not against that, but as far as the deep issues with the state, nothing will change. This state has oil & gas, the MS river and plants to go with it, fertile farm land, tourism, the seafood industry… we have opportunities everywhere and don’t seem to be getting ahead in any metric. For that Waguespack is getting my vote, but if it comes down to Landry vs a Dem in the end, I’ll vote Landry.

Were you on a boat with the sAdvocate staff ?

Wag is a chamber pawn and won't stand up to shite.

Say what you want about Landry, he stands up for personal liberties.

Landry stands up for Shane Guidry, hiring Mexican workers over US workers in his personal business, and files lawsuits against news reporters asking him for public records.

People say this but it isn’t true. The plaintiff bar isn’t supporting Landry.

LA’s biggest challenges have nothing to do with personal liberties. Try infrastructure, education, tax policy, and the rest of the south booming post Covid sans us.

Get a clue and stop acting like the epitome of a low information voter.

Landry is a hack.

I don’t mind a hack in Congress but I don’t want a hack as Governor.

There is nothing in Landry’s past or present that suggests he will take on any of the real issues this state faces.

Landry will be Mike Foster 2.0 and that’ll be a huge improvement over the past 8 years.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but what do you have to support he is backed by trial lawyers? Right now he runs a government agency that literally defends the state in lawsuits against trial lawyers. Just curious. Also Edwards was the candidate previously backed by trial lawyers and he’s a democrat.

The only other viable Republican candidate is Wags and he is literally the “brains” behind Bobby Jindal.

If you want Jindal 2.0 vote for Wags. Otherwise support the only true conservative in the race and vote for Landry.

Louisiana is dumb as frick. They will vote for that LABI guy because they are pleased with how well the spoils system is working and want more. Waguespack/LABI will continue to make sure Louisiana can never eliminate the state income tax, all while giving bumper sticker slogans to make you feel good about it.

I thought Ralph Abraham was our best shot last go around but we let outsiders come in from DC and push Eddie "Trump Lite" Rispone down our throats. We know how that turned out. If Rispone wouldnt have had the swamp come in and run his campaign he probably would have won.

EDIT: They ran a national campaign for the state and that doesn't play well for LA elections due to the cultural divides that exist through out the state. LA is very unique when it comes to state elections.

Stand by for "Republicans for Whomever the Democrats Run" in 2023 if Landry and a Dem are in the runoff.

Big cities = economic incubators / catalysts.

Big cities are controlled by Dems.

Dems are stacked.

The people have no chance…regardless of demographics.

ETA - All of the candidates have flaws

I’m voting Republican…not Dem.

Landry has the easiest path imho.

La. voters have always been a sucker for social issues instead of getting someone who can govern effectively. Landry appears to be a man who is always looking for a parade to get in front of so he can say he is their leader.

Social issues are the smoke that blinds us to the real problems.

Landry could have the "Vitter effect", he turns a lot of stomachs and it may be enough voters to keep him out.
