A simple question of the day.

It seems that CEOs are throwing weight around that they should not have.

The American left and corporate interests have become synonymous.

It is bizarre how many on the left allow the elitists they supposedly despise take the reins

didn't this board celebrate the Citizen's United Decision (rightfully so?)

I'm fine with corps making their political opinions known.

But i also think that those corporations better know what they're talking about before they decide to get involved. right now none of them actually dislike GA voting laws. they just have loud squeaky wheels in their ears right now.

if you ask them what other states have the exact same laws, they better know the answer. i'd wager most don't.

On a global playing field, too many of their interests are beyond the betterment of this nation and in many cases are directly against it. There is no “free trade” because they buy the rule makers and policy that kills all undergrowth of future competition.

Unfortunately even if you did ban corporate election influence, they’d still do so through anonymous foundations, “charities” and other means.

Yes, we should prohibit PACs from running political ads or spending money to influence elections altogether.

Corporations should not be allowed to make donations at all to politicians or PACs.

Every individual in the US should be limited to a $25 donation per politician per year.

I don't think so, but we definitely shouldn't let what corporations want sway our opinions or define what is right.

I'm about to fully endorse the end to all political donation except from individuals who are limited to donating to people who they are able to cast a vote for. And that the amount should be limited to some fairly low $$$ amount, including donations from the candidates themselves.

We also need some regulations on "journalism" -

- Present nothing but facts - have a named source for all assertions of policy effects. If a newscaster reports as a 'fact' something that is easily proved wrong by exercise of minimal 'due diligence' that newscaster will be sanction heavily, including forfeiting air-time to the aggrieved party for a week as well as heavy fines and firing the offending agent within the organization.

- label anything other than something like the /\ above /\ as "Opinion" or "political gossip"

On a visceral level, I like what you posted.

Intellectually I think it is problematic. For example, it's not like left leaning media won't cherry pick their facts.

I would like the media to be held accountable for deliberately spewing false Dim Marxist propaganda but the leftists have covered their asses by claiming everyone is entitled to “their truth.” Essentially, the left doesn’t believe in or subscribe to objective truth or morality.....that’s a bad combo.

Corporate personhood is maybe the worst thing to ever happen to this country. Ushered in the era of corporatocracy. It's a death blow to capitalism and the quickest way to Communism.

It also defies logic. Clearly and plainly a corporation is not a person.

Who really thinks that buying a politician with money is "free speech"?

Bull shite.

Honestly we just need to get rid of corporations.

There is too much being ruled from the shadows and money laundering that happens with corporations. Businesses should have the name of the owner on them and accountability should be had again in this country.

I remember how confused I was my freshman year at Georgia in early 70s when I realized the most radical leftest faction on campus were from the most wealthy and influential families in the state of Georgia.
