So apparently there is a state law - still active - on the books in Alabama from pre-World War II that states that it is legal for a Sheriff to accept tax money in order to feed inmates at his jail, and if it exceeds what is paid, then he gets to keep the balance for himself.

So What does Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin do, and is proud to declare it? He over-stocks his jail with prisoners, hires a dietician to develop a minimal meal plan, saves hundred of thousands of tax-payer supplied funds for inmate meals, and keeps it for himself.

He's claimed to have taken in over $1.7 million over his annual salary of $93,000.00, and has brought a sweet beach house with it worth $740,000.00:

Plus another home for over $200,000.00

And it's all legal. The Sheriff basically says, if you don't like it, then change the law. Only in Alabama.....

If that’s a beach house, where’s the beach?

Alabama has shitty laws on the books, but every attempt to fix it gets blocked by a very crooked political base.

To be fair, the law also requires him to give half of that $1.7 million to Bama for the purchase of more players.

Deep red states and deep blue states have some of the worst laws. There is no checks and balances and most have no term limits.

If it's legal, then there's no reason to care; people shouldn't be rewarded for going to jail anyways. Annnnnnd...NOW the faux outrage and virtue signaling commences, GOD I love America.

Calm down snowflake - it was just a simple little joke at Alabama's expense, which I pocketed the excess $$ from and brought a sweet little Apple laptop with......

Yep, I never said anything about caring, I asked if it was surprising. Hey, if the rest of the people of Alabama are OK with their state tax dollars going to people who do not need it, to help them live like millionaires, when those who paid the taxes are struggling to meet their bills, then I'll just say Thank God I don't live in Alabama.....

He's likely going to end up in jail. There's no way he declared that money as income. The tax man cometh.

Theres lots of things that are legal that should be illegal and vice versa.

Do you care that all of your lifelong possesions are a traffic stop away from being stolen from you without arrest, indictment, trial or conviction?
