Dumbass doesnt realize his military are outnumbered 70-1.
Are his guns bigger? Sure. But to say he would be able to put down an armed insurgency against those odds is insane. He couldnt do it against 200,000 middle eastern insurgents, what makes him think he could do it against 75M in America.
Neither side could easily claim victory, but I would think the the guys on the outside have huge advantages. The civilians are the ones who keep this country running. Milley would have a very difficult time running operations when American insurgents are destroying water treatment plants, refineries, road, bridges, electric grids. Without fuel his army cant move any faster than the insurgents, and he is drastically outnumbered.
I sincerely hope this never comes to fruition. It would be the bloodiest conflict ever seen on earth. But to say either side would will it quickly and convincingly is crazy.

I'm not underestimating anything, but demographics is absolutely a factor. You are assuming quite a lot of advanced organization that doesn't just happen organically.

Very good point. I agree, many active duty soldiers will head home to protect their families. Similar to thousands during the Civil War. Like Robert E Lee, he served for 32 years in the Union army prior to the civil war but returned home when Virginia declared secession .

Look, I’ve been saying for a few years now: Red State Americans are going to be shocked when it’s military and police units that close the churches and start rounding people up KGB style. They think “our boys would never do that to our own country “. But your boys are conditioned to follow orders. Further, your boys… and now girls… are being conditioned to see YOU as the enemy now.

Their boys wouldn't, they would call in officers from across the country or from out of the country. Its too hard to organize a unified front. And who wants to go first and get whacked before the real war started?

I can see martial law declared and military governors installed in place of elected governors and legislatures. These governors will issue directives ordering the surrender of all firearms by a specified date. Anyone defying the order will be visited by a team on the early morning hours who will kick l down the door, seize weapons and execute the noncomplyers in the front yard in full view of the neighbors and families. The house will be searched and valuables removed and then burnt down. If they did this at 2 or 3 in the morning, there won't be many who could resist. They would quickly squash any revolution before it started.
