It has more to do with the amount of revolving credit you are currently using. I did the same thing...took a hit.. then years later got a car and up it went.
I'm no accounting major but I've noticed for me 10 to 15% of my credit in play is optimal for a max score...

But screw the score and go debt free and tell them to get bent.

My BIL is a 30 year old, two time Stanford graduate that lives at home and has his mom put money into his account when he needs it.

Take a guess what side of the political spectrum he’s on.
