It should never have boiled down to this. Iran was cheated out of a win Friday night when Khalilzadeh's apparent winning goal against Egypt was nullified for offside, after about ten minutes, after VAR declared it was a GOOOOAAALLL!!! and sent the Iran fans in Seattle into orbit. If the goal had been honored, Iran would have finished with 5 points in group play, and easily made the Knockout Round.
