Can’t say that I’m remotely surprised by this. The MoU was destined to fail due to how it was written. Trump never should’ve let up on the bombing. Kill the bad guys. End of story.

This is a matter of resolve. We don’t have the political resolve for a protracted conflict or a ground war. They know that. Why would they agree to anything?

Furthermore, negotiations still haven't been cancelled. They have just postponed the signing ceremony because the thing is already signed and they're "reevaluating" the Lebanon situation. They have expressly stayed that the negotiations aren't off and they're still honoring the MoU.
Again, they're between a rock and a hard place. They are being forced to negotiate. But they're also trying to save face.
