It's the irrationality of in/out group dynamics, amplified by extreme polarity.
You can't start the real conversation because the group who is now being exposed as a hypocrite has to try to re-frame it to protect their in-group, which makes a deep, rational conversational impossible b/c the facts underlying the conversation can't be agreed upon.

Get this through your pea sized partisan brain: it was bad when Obama released the 1.7 Billion and its bad now that Trump is doing the same only on a higher level of the scale. Which examples of this had the fanatical regime remain in place as part of the rebuilding?
Not Germany or Japan, for example.
We tried to change regimes in Iraq and Afghanistan....we just failed after 10-20 years.
