Something I found that Sheriff Marx said to be elected.

quote:

Sheriff Marx has stated that his office will act based on constitutional standards, not politics or emotions. He has also said that he will work with federal agencies when their actions are within constitutional parameters.

He lied, but he is a Marx.

Believe what you want that’s freedom but when you work in law enforcement, bragging about not following the law and enforcing certain laws is a bold strategy.

While I may not like what that sheriff does, that governor is about to find out to whom the sheriff answers.

Pro tip: it’s not the governor

when you factor in state funding could be pulled, then directly he answers to the dollar, and indirectly to the AG/Governor through the power of the dollar.

quote:

Reynolds said the letter will be treated as a complaint filed with Attorney General Brenna Bird, and added that Winneshiek County and its sheriff could become ineligible for state funds if found to have intentionally violated Iowa Code 27A.

No, but the Governor does have a say in where the funding goes.

A quick stint in general population in the state prison should clear things right up for him.

That sheriff absolutely would not report being sexually assaulted in his own jail.

Sheriffs are independently funded.

Governors have political capital they can assert to try to sway a sheriff, but they have practically zero ability to force anything.

ETA: btw, we want it like this

Strange corner of the state for a sheriff to be making this sort of stance. I was expecting it to be over towards Davenport or Des Moines.

Sheriff’s AND counties are also eligible for state funding as well however (or ineligible).

If this sheriff and county are confident in going it alone then best of luck to them. When all is said and done however I’m skeptical they stand strong as an independent safe haven for illegals in the long run.

That doesn’t count when the sheriff breaks the law.

With that said, it will take the Feds to act on violation of federal immigration law.
