Short story... The student govt liberals are offended by the conservative student's views. So, they want to confiscate the College Republicans funds and give it to the Black Student Union.

My oldest daughter is a UC-Berkeley law grad. (Did her undergraduate work at UNC.) She's married to a producer living out there now.
We rarely speak anymore. She's gone off the deep end and I have my limits of understanding and patience.
What we all should remember though is that there are some very conservative students attending there and they are truly fighting the good fight. It is an everyday battle for those kids and they have little to no protection on any level. They are constantly under attack and things go-on out there in terms of intimidation and harassment that are rarely reported.

Any case about this should, in theory, be quickly decided because of SCOTUS precedent.
There is a UVA case where a Christian group won the right for funds after being denied them under “separation of church and state” grounds.
SCOTUS pretty much said “Any qualifying group applying for funds is entitled to them regardless of religion.” Especially so in the UVA case because non-Christian religions were amongst the groups getting funding.
In addition, political speech is far more settled, as the state isn’t supposed to be silencing speech. And Berkeley is clearly an agent of the state of California since it is the state uni system as opposed to a private system.

Much like the UT San Marcos student president impeachment, everyone is expected to virtue signal regardless of their beliefs to cut off reprisals for not being “woke” enough.

Amanda's indoctrination started at UNC and I fought it as much as possible ... but when she got to UC-Berkeley she went off the deep end. I became her enemy because I was, according to her, so far Right and secondly, I cut off her money to some extent ... let's say I restricted her spending habits and constant needs for new cars.
There is one thing that bothers me about the left more than anything else and it is their lack of respect for families. They believe in tearing apart families and once they have you in their grasp they are very cultish. They demand financial support through unlimited donations to unlimited left wing causes. It shocks me how many well-to-do liberals have budgeted large, monthly, donations to various liberal causes.
