In theory, would you be OK with only letting citizens vote if they filed their taxes?

It would never happen.

However, would you be open to a requirement that confirmed you filed your federal income taxes the prior year to be able to vote?

I work in a sector with a privileged license where the state’s government that issued it requires me to show proof that I file my federal taxes each year.

Would you be open to only letting those vote who submitted their income tax paper work the prior year?

Which is why it will never happen

I would be even more OK with only citizens voting who are net tax PAYERS.

How about we have limited government which does not give out “freebies”. I do not think the problem is people having a right to vote.

If you don't have skin in the game, you should not be voting.

Its a really broad stroke to paint, but only producers should vote. Someone who's never put anything in the pot shouldn't determine how much they get out of the potm

Don’t ever count on the government to do something logical

It's a step in the right direction but my requirement is more simple.

If you are on government assistance, your vote is suspended until you are off of it.

Simple, not race based, not gender based, not creed based.

If they actually pay income taxes (not if their income tax burden is zero or negative because of refundable tax credits].

Also, only property owners can vote in property tax elections.

Yes...

Why do we want those that only take from the hopper but do not put any in to impact elections?

47% pay federal taxes...

I’ve said it for years, if one of our founding principles was “no taxation without representation” then the inverse should also apply, no representation without taxation…

I can see why government would want this. I can't imagine a society where the focus of your voting was tied to taxes. Seems like it would downward spiral fairly quickly.

That's very odd for a liberal. Most live in a make believe world.

Yeah. No mission creep in that offer. What's next? Setting a limit on how much you pay the government to buy your vote?

Gotta be a wrecked out liberal to think tying taxes to voting can go wrong.

The system now involves money for votes, this was never more clear than the last elections with a political party literally promising cash for votes.

And you think that's right or wrong?

If they filed? I'd be OK with making it only if you actually had to be a certain amount.
