Constitutionality is not really the issue here, though.

There aren't 60 votes to pass it, and there was never going to be. That is the issue. If it isn't something that can realistically pass, a bill is nothing but a waste of time and paper.

Imposing new federal requirements now, when states are deep into their preparations, would negatively impact election integrity by forcing election officials to scramble to adhere to new policies likely without the necessary resources

What a cop out. I’ve had to provide picture ID at my precinct for as long as I’ve been voting. Two poll watchers at a table, one with the voter rolls. The one without the rolls takes the ID, verifies it, then calls out the voter’s name to the one with the rolls. That poll watcher verifies that the name is on the rolls, marks it, and the other hands your ID back and directs you to a booth. 30 seconds max.

Voter ID is smart policy, but it has to be done by states.

Ever hear of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (Democrats)

Murkowski hasn't proposed repealing that has she?

I understand. I was purely addressing VOR's ongoing ignorance on basically all things.

Requiring a voter ID is not federalizing the elections......merely guarantees who is this person wanting to cast a vote!

you must be a registered valid US citizen to vote in ALL elections, IMO.

Why is this so troubling to some?

The Save Act would require more than a driver’s license, iirc. The driver’s license has been no problem as far as I can tell. The poll workers are very precise with the ID and voter roll…

Therein lies the rub. Every outlet that I’ve seen reporting shows that ~80% of Americans are in favor of voter ID, but you say (and I tend to believe you) that the Senate doesn’t have the votes to pass it.

Bottom line, the people we elect to represent us aren’t representing us.

Bottom line, the people we are told are elected by us to represent us aren't elected by us and those whom they actually represent in DC are the ones who installed them.

For the bulk of our history there was seen a value in getting our elected representatives on record as to what particular issues they might CHUSE not to do so.

Tell that to the moaning bitches from the Democrat party who think their voters are too stupid to be able to get a photo ID.

I skimmed it, but I believe that the birth certificate or passport is only required for voter registration. Once registered, only picture ID is required at the precinct.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

You know how many times GOP senators have votes yes on cloture and no on the bill that passes with a simple Dem majority? It seems like a lot. GOP always doing favors for the Dems. It's pathetic.

Not with respect to Congressional elections, she's not.
