Immigrants and welfare

i hear a lot about how illegal immigrants come here for welfare. They are not eligible for welfare for 5yrs. Welfare is a massive problem and neither party wants to address it. I think the wall is a total waste of money and you are a fool if you think 5 billion builds a wall. 5 billion is the first down payment . Since when can our federal govt build anything for the first price they tell us?

Worked with a lot of Hispanics with family in Mexico and they said that most of them were on American welfare. Not sure how but he said they cross the line, use their EBT at the store then go right back across. Mexican nationals.

In the broad term of welfare, yes, they are eligible immediately for several programs. For the very specific form known as "Welfare" you are correct they are not immediately eligible.

Their children most certainly area eligible for social services.
The children they have after they arrive are CITIZENS and are eligible for social services and welfare as long as they are minors.
Their parents report no income.

Having spent 10 years as a Border Patrol agent, let me tell you how this works. Person crosses illegally, pops out multiple children that are all instantly US citizens. The mother may not be eligible for welfare but the children are entitled to the full package and the mother is given $1000+ in food stamps and welfare, along with WIC, housing subsidies, etc. And that's if they're doing it legally. That doesn't account for those that steal others' identities.

I trust this answer more than any other. It's happening and everyone knows it. And, yes a wall would stop most of this. And, no I don't think it will cost $5B. But, who cares??? We are spending 50 times that or more taking care of illegals and also suffering because of the crimes some commit. BUILD THE DAMN WALL, FENCE, MOAT, WHATEVER!!!!! GET IT DONE NOW!!

A must-read by Americans who want to save our country, "Adios America" by Ann Coulter. In the book it expresses 71% of all illegal immigrants receive welfare! This doesn't include other free services given out by our corrupted government. Education, Healthcare, Food stamps and social-security checks! These are just aa few facts written!
She does state, in the 1960s America would export on average 30,000 legal immigrants from our country every year who relied on the government or didn't speak English or did not acclimate. I understand the frustration. It should go to both sides though.
Dems want the votes. Repubs want the labor. In construction it's the worse kept secret that certain companies hire cheap labor that against federal minimum wage laws. Some Republicans dont care because they dont like minimum wage (and that's another discussion entirely).

In my opinion the wall will, in the very least, slow illegal immigration. Furthermore, 5 billion dollars has never been stated as the total cost for the wall.
Please expound on why you believe it's a total waste considering the amount of money we are actually wasting elsewhere. Is that not hypocritical?

Exactly right.
Cato may not agree with me on this stance but it would be better in their eyes I am sure than what we have----let anyone come that wants too so long as they have a job before they coma and they have proof they will be covered by health insurance.
We should end all limits on the number of work visas and adopt this new standard to have a work visa.
Why would anyone be against hard working, tax paying people coming to America.

how come people on this board call anyone who post, that doesn't pull Trumps dick out of their mouth a liberal? That should answer your question on my political party. I personally think we should waste the money to build the damn wall that will take god knows how many year to complete just to shut the GOP up....wait the GOP doesn't want a wall , that's right the party of our president doesn't give a damn about his wall. i just wanted to bring some facts to the sky is falling debate. Our country has needed updated immigration laws and enforcement for 50yrs and neither one of the parties in the country will ever do it. Just another reason i will never vote for either of these parties again.

Yet you whine about a wall and not the fact that illegals are criminals and they cost taxpayers far more than 5.7 billion.
