Sure, but the difference now is that it has more publicity and a reason for crazy people to go on there now.

No one knew about this previously and so by shining a light on it, for the people who didn’t know about it, there’s no difference between it not existing and being publicly known.

I haven't seen the list, the searchable database, or search criterion allowed. Have you?

If the public has the ability to search NYC properties based on occupancy status (which is the only way to identify those subject to a pied-a-terre tax), it would be new, and horrible. Squatters would rejoice though.

I believe most cities/counties in the United States have a publicly accessible property ownership database. I know that Louisiana has one for every parish that I am aware of. You can search by name, address, etc., and find out who owns, when they bought it, what they paid, what the assessed value is, even what address the tax bill is mailed to.
