You see, even though it's a stupid mistake, it could be as simple as someone in the room had recently said "57 states and territories" and then during the speed that got shortened because of the realities of speaking in public.

Same thing, some says "That drug has gone up 600% this year", and in discussions someone uses that same point of speech but words it differently.

Trump was conveying a message with the 600% comment. What was it? If you can tell us what it was, then you can say .... but it's really not a 600% cut. Until you can do that, you come across as intellectually uncurious.

Trump is using marketing, not math. Obviously.
If as Kennedy says, we hear criticism of a 600% price rise, then someone finds a way to cut that price 86%, what percent of the audience would appreciate the 86% in the same way as they were shocked by the 600%? What percent of Americans would realize the 86% reduction results in a number virtually identical to the initial (pre-600%) number?

The reality is the bigger number sounds better, and causes more focus on the price change.
