This is the only way they save face without this thing blowing up on them in the Senate. The Dems in the Trump areas will be allowed to walk and the progressives can cry because they tried their best.

Republicans have done this for years when they had the majority to justify not actually doing what they promised. Same here.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. Then the unified campaign slogan will be "we need you to vote Dem so we can get rid of Orange Man".

I think they’ll hold a vote with no consequence to “prove” they could impeach Trump but they will only formally censure him to save face and prevent Senate trial and political blowback

Only reason I think they have them is they wouldn’t have said to draft the formal articles if they didn’t

But let’s be honest, this whole thing is about a scotus nomination so they can try to cry YOU CANT NOMINATE WHILE BEING INVESTIGATED

I think a lot of Dems would rather face the public than face Pelosi.

The question is whether there are enough in red or purple districts who are more scared of losing than certain reprisal from their party.

Their options are:

A) Vote to impeach, with passing effort shedding a few red state, freshmen Dems, but pass with simple majority nonetheless; summarily get their clocks cleaned in Senate where they stand zero chance at 17-20 GOP defections to convict, or

B) Vote merely to censure, but lose 10-30% of Dem voting base in general election.

Trump is promising to call Pelosi, Schiff, and Biden to testify before the senate.

This is getting good.

That’s the thing. Pelosi is the one that knows they don’t want this in the Senate. She’ll appear magnanimous and tell them all to vote their conscience.....and just enough Dems in Trump districts will not come along.

I agree with the censure bit but they only do this after they don’t have the votes to impeach. If they get a censure majority then their voters will blow up for not impeaching instead. They need the vote to show their rapid supporters that they tried their best.

It’s really the only way out.

You’d have to have formal articles to even hold a vote.

Y’all are wild.

They aren’t going to ease up at this point. Trump is getting impeached.

I’m starting to see this as their only course of action. They REALLY don’t want this to go to trial. Particularly when there’s no evidence (and they know there’s no evidence).

In a pimp 34D chess move Trump tells about 75 GOP reps to vote for it guaranteeing it going to the Senate for a trial.

As has been said, the cross examination of witnesses would be absolutely disastrous if the Republicans have the balls to do it right.

In fact, if it does go to the Senate I’ll be worried because they won’t let that happen unless the fix is in.

Maybe, but I still think this has more to do with "It was her turn!!" and her ongoing temper tantrum.

She wants to sit on the sideline as long as possible while her minions do everything they can to damage Trump and the country so she can try and jump in as the savior.

The GOP members don't vote til the last minute to see what the Dem strategy actually is.

Then, if they look like they are going to be just short, they help Nancy win.

If the GOP has the balls, in a trial they could destroy the Democrats and the Messiah Hussein.

I heard a rumor that there are MANY dems who will not vote for it to pass. They are embarrassed by this shite show, and would love to punish their own, if they have 2.

I don't understand how Pelosi was pressured into supporting this. She was very much in opposition before.

Option 1 is going to give republicans justification to pay them back the next time a Democrat is in the White House.

She HAS to. The radical left has been screaming for this and challenging her. Also, they have the IG report coming out and have to do everything they can to cover their asses.
