People feel like they get their opinions out on social media (which includes this site) and no longer feel the need to do it over the phone like they did when they were desperate to be asked their opinions.

another problem -- no "normal" persons respond to polls.

This was always "a" problem

Now it is "the" problem = they are only getting responses from lonely low IQ people

Outlaw polling? Make it a criminal offense?

That sounds very snowflakish.

Speaking to the statistics of the matter, it doesn’t matter how many calls have to be placed to get a one thousand person sample. If you get a thousand responses then you have a thousand responses.

What DOES matter is the responders perception of the intent of the poll.

Only those polls that don't reinforce your opinion in the results of said poll. If it reinforces your view, they are accurate and righteous.

I hate push polling, but that is usually conducted by the candidates themselves.....or their PAC.

Lol. Can you even imagine the quality of your spouse or partner if you had to go through 21+ people to finally get one to answer your call. How desperate would you be to qualify that call?

But you go ahead and let the "polls" continue to lead you!!

How do you know it's a pollster rather than a scam call? I never answer a call from an unrecognized number. I used to get polled once every few years but now because I dont answer I won't.

Your level of false equivalency is almost as astounding as your lack of statistical comprehension.

Not really. These polls are capturing different people now. Anyone with a landline in 2026 is likely over the age of 65 and also likely watches cable “news”programs The current sampling is flawed.

I’m not taking up for the polls; they’re consistently hilariously wrong(see 2016 presidential election polling). But they do call cell phones. They call mine and I’m on the do not call registry.

What I can understand is how stupid people must be that are responding to these polls. Obviously, Gallup is complaining for they have run out of stupid people. Even the stupid people have turned on them.

I used to get polled ALL THE TIME before and during Obama's first term. It happened so often that I just started messing with them with obvious BS statements and answers. Haven't been polled even once since then. Pretty sure they're making a list.
