I'm sure they'll make those arguments.
But presidents tend to be held responsible for high levels of employment and the details sometimes get muddy.

What was our former "capacity" to act in a place like China with regard to something like this?
Nothing. When you’re working in a communist state bent on controlling the narrative more than anything else, there’s nothing to be done. I would’ve slashed funding for the office.

China kept it's own people in the dark and let them die, then infected the world. But you think a few extra nerds and bureaucrats with the CDC in Beijing could've changed things?

You’re very good at keeping hope alive with no data to support your beliefs. You’ll hang on. Vaya con Dios.

Did Trump screw himself with his doomcasting?
No?
If anything he could be made out as doing a better job than even he thought he could do.
Win-win.

The media is going to take credit for it and say Democratic governors like Cuomo were the successful ones.
Won’t matter, they’ve handed Trump a major victory with voters once again.

To me this means Trump saved 150,000 lives.

There was a pandemic playbook that wasn't consulted. We had a pandemic expert on the National Security Council that Bolton axed, saying that pandemics weren't a national security issue. Even as it was, HHS was trying to get Trump's attention on the issue and he interrupted Azar's briefing about COVID to ask when flavored vapes were coming back on the market.
They're going to argue that jobs were shut down that wouldn't have been shut down if we'd had test-and-trace, that we might have ended up more like South Korea than worse than Spain, Italy, and the UK.

no i get it. i'm saying if that's the message, it's only going to energize the very political/far left
for the right/middle, it's going to sound like Trump has been right about "globalism" and China all along
you have to imagine what a middle of the road American is like right now. they've been told millions of people may die so if Trump gets that down to 30-50k by November, it's going to seem like a HUGE win. and the only reason why they expected such high death totals was the doomcasting by the media in an attempt to hurt Trump
the WHO argument has the same potential "backfire" effect. i get the argument, but how it plays? i dunno (for those trying to hurt Trump)

uh yeah b/c we've overreacted by trying to paint a universal brush when it's clear that was not needed

Even if that’s a valid argument (and it has some holes), no one outside of people who already hate Trump are going down that Subreddit rabbit hole.

The corrupt, bought-and-paid-for corporate media has absolutely screwed themselves, but will they ever acknowledge that their incessant gloom-and-doom sky screaming was harmful to the country? No, because here's exactly what they will do:
They will seamlessly seque into obsessing over the Pelosi/Schiff/Nadler Oversight Hearings regarding President Trump's "mishandling" of the Covid-19 crisis. Mark my words
PS - And just like clockwork, Benedict Romney will support the endeavour thereby allowing Democrats and the media to falsely claim that the hearings are both legitimate and bipartisan.

More like 2 million.
The 200,000 figure is the much reduced number.

There is no hypothetical situation where we end up like South Korea.
Our country is different, our people are different, our laws and customs are different.
This is a ridiculous talking point.
