If the optimism of yesterday is legit, did the media screw themselve with the doomcasting?

for 4-6 weeks straight, the media has been severely doomcasting the outcome for COVID-19 so that they could pin 200,000 bodies on Trump, essentially. they have to criticize for their partisan pandering and they have to hope for the worst in a crisis, so they've created some very terrible expectations for society.

so, now that it appears the early models that doomcasting was based off of MAY have been too pessimistic, it creates a situation where Trump may far exceed their projections.

how do they walk this back and turn it into a talking point against him? they have been relentless on saying every comment/tweet effectively has killed thousands of people, so if we turn out way better than they told the public we would, Trump wins. they can't really say Trump didn't do x, y, or z because literally anything he's done has been criticized.

what are they going to go with? that he got lucky?

They will spin it to try and hurt him no matter how this plays out.

If there’s one thing the media has absolutely no capability for, it’s self-evaluation.

They still haven’t figured out 2016, I doubt that they’re going to turn the corner on the Rona.

They are still all in on Russia for God's sake.

Ditto that for impeachment.

You think this is going to change? It's always been how trump mishandled this thing. That won't change.

They'll ignore whatever amount they said would die and act like the number of deaths is the worst thing imaginable.

They say 200,000 will die.

Let's say even 50,000 die which probably won't happen.. they'll act like they never doomcasted and say 50,000 deaths is unimaginable.

Possibly.

Did Trump screw himself with his doomcasting?

For 3 years of left bias (propaganda) that has been proven false, I have thought: the public will wake up and push back. Each time I have been wrong. It has felt like being on the receiving end of all the "got 'eem" memes that I laugh at.

This time it may come back on the press. People on both sides have been force fed the doom scenario for too long. I am cautiously optimistic that this time both sides will fire back.

On the other hand they are masters of spin/deception and the TDS may override common sense. Interesting question regardless.

they're in the same boat with the medical cocktail they've decided to build a media wall around criticizing Trump over promoting

I sometimes think Trump proposes common sense ideas knowing that the media can’t help immediately “debunking” his idea and then looking stupid when it’s obviously proven to be true in just a short time.

That the extent of the economic damage is excessive as the virus could've been contained at far less cost and disruption with early and extensive test & trace.

If you take everything the experts in media and science have predicted, and compare it to reality, then Donald J. Trump saved 2 million lives.

There's no way around it. Either they were completely wrong and fricked up, causing a massive economic downturn, or Trump saved more lives than perhaps any president in history.

There's really no middle ground.

only if we allowed Trump to become a dictator in January, and even then it would have shut down all of our major, coastal urban areas

even in our current situation, most places in the US don't have to be shut down right now, and that's a state/local decision

"Once Trump FINALLY started listening to the experts, we were able to unify as a country and conquer this horrific pandemic. Had we allowed to Trump to continue on his own, the numbers would have been in the millions".
