now, with a break in the action, we are given a 180 and get to watch a dude sing in a language we don't speak, while wearing a dress. A dude that goes by "Bad Bunny".

I'm 65. I'll definitely watch the game. I rarely watch the halftime show unless it is someone that I know and like (Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, etc.).

For sure I would watch if Metallica were playing. I won't be watching Bad Bunny.

But the NFL's goal is to attract non-traditional fans. I bet the ratings will be much larger than normal in Central and South American countries.

I don’t care if all they did was stand on stage and recite Shakespeare. It would still be better than Bad Bunny.

The more I think about it, I'm pretty sure Metallica could find a way to set Shakespeare to music and do a good job of it.

Well, that’s insightful……..

On topic, Metallica would’ve been the right choice. Don’t care nor have ever listed to Nasty Bunny

Choice of this artist was a high risk, low reward prospect for the league. That in and of itself should have someone's head on the chopping block, regardless of outcome.

Respectfully disagree. I see it the other way.

It’s clear the NFL has been focused on globalization recently. Which makes a lot of sense from a business standpoint. The NFL is so far and away the most dominant sports league financially in the US, but has almost no market share internationally. That’s a huge potential delta if they can make headway there. This is very different from sports like basketball, baseball, hockey, etc which already have huge fanbases abroad. Football is essentially just an American sport that is not taken seriously outside the US. Seems like an opportunity there.

David Stern when he was running the NBA had similar aspirations and it did really help grow the game. Olympic basketball is proof of that, as well as the last 7 MVP winners (going to be 8 soon) all being international guys.

If BB does something controversial, NFL will recover just like it did after Janet and Kaep. But if they can do what the NBA did for basketball internationally…I mean I think it’s a swing worth taking.

Do you not remember how pissed people got at the NFL after Kap started kneeling?

And yet the NFL didn’t suffer one bit.

It would have easily been one of the highest rated halftime shows of all time.

I’m in no way a fan of Bad Bunny… but this will be one of the highest rated halftime shows ever… people going watch strictly out of spite of the Administration…

Not ever going to suffer… football is a nationally subsidized activity in America … basically every town with over 500 people and a high school has a football stadium

Nope. I got a better idea. How about we find artists to preform the halftime show out of every genre of music. Then find artists that just preform and have a good time so you can enjoy the show and have a good time. If people want to preach politics then they should run for office. Otherwise just shut up and let’s enjoy ourselves. I wouldn’t even want to hear someone that I agree with go into politics during a performance. I’m not at a show or watching on tv to hear that shite. I have a tv and a satellite connection for that. I just want to have fun and enjoy myself when I’m listening to music.
You sure have a lot of ideas on how a business you don't own should spend money.

Baseball is making a comeback. Football as a whole is on the decline. People seem to be turning on College football.

Baseball is doing just fine. Based on attendance, revenue, and ratings, neither College nor the NFL is declining,

A five year old could have thought to book a band like Metallica

probably dont want another senior citizen band. They want a band that appeals to a wide spectrum of people. A hip modern world artist.
