Seriously? It is so blatantly obvious that this is just an attempt to delay a vote until after the elections. That won't save the Dems anyway since they are more likely to lose seats than gain.
ETA: Did you see even McCaskill, who is in a tough reelection fight, has now said if Ford doesn't testify, she is going to ignore the allegations in casting her vote. It's over Dems.

She was looking to delay. Who knows, maybe they were all 3 making out. And WHO FUVKING CARES?
It was a stall tactic, including the FBI stunt. Make it go to November and hope the Senate swings their way.
It worked as intended, it delayed the vote and cast doubt.

Because her original therapy notes that she hinged her credibility on had 4 ppl in the room and was a gang-rape. Going down to just 2, you can still say gang-rape but claim 1 figure is wrong. Far more plausible to say the therapist wrote a digit wrong than to say she wrote a sentence about it being a gang-rape wrong.
So you need at least 2 to keep that. So who to pick besides kavanaugh to get most credibility? Coincidently, it was the one person who she would know wrote a book about drunken high school exploits.
The question isn't why add another one. The question is why were 2 subtracted. And why is the one who couldn't be subtracted(bc it would disqualify gang-rape notes) coincidently the one who has a book published to the public about hijinx with kavanaugh?

Here is the most amazing thing to me:
As a society, we now take seriously allegations that are clearly unprovable if those allegations relate to any form of sexual harassment or misconduct. In one sense, this is probably good because it reflects that society is generally not inclined to disregard sexual misconduct. But what to DO about the unprovable? Insist that Kavanaugh deny them in such a way that reflects his retained empathy for victims of sexual assault? Must his demonstrated empathy include his alleged accuser?
A thought experiment: What if Dr. Ford said that Kavanaugh robbed her of a sum of cash that night some 35 years ago? He grabbed her, covered her mouth, and then took $100 out of her purse. Would such uncorroborated allegations of robbery be sufficient to require additional Senate hearings?

Investigate something that only exists in a persons mind. No evidence to parse, no information on who, what, when, where, no witnesses, etc. HOW is that to be "investigated"? Not only that, but what is your basis for believing that the FBI has jurisdiction over a teenage beer party 36 years ago??
