The South was preserving the spirit of 1776.

This cannot be overstated. Slavery was reprehensible, but many of the Union Free Soilers weren't just opposed to slavery, they were opposed to blacks living in their states and territories. Race hatred, not sympathy, formed the basis for much of the opposition to slavery in the mid 19th century.

And one need only look at the still-living former Presidents to see where they stood as the right of secession was concerned. 10th President John Tyler served in the Confederate Congress. 13th President Millard Fillmore (Yankee) was an open supporter of George McClellan in 1864, who called for a truce and an end to the war. 14th President Franklin Pierce (Yankee) and 15th President James Buchanan (Yankee) were both openly Confederate sympathizers.

I'm not sure how much more of their "winning" places like Chicago can withstand.

I admit I am a bit intrigued as to what takes place in Minneapolis, though.

Minority to be sure, but they are loud, getting attention and money, and making leaders do stuff, all the while not being forced to work or provide.

Maybe they're not actually the losers here.

Well the tyranny was mostly taxes that were immediately circumvented anyway. If you read a few of the French journals and letters from officers that served here, they saw it more as Americans already worshipping money.

I want you to tell me how the slaves would have defined tyranny.

Considering that Africans were selling their own people into slavery to European, Asian and Middle Eastern nations for centuries prior to the Americas being established, I guess it would depend on which era of slavery they were in.

How is George Washington a traitor to the US? That's the fricking difference, and I know you're smart enough to know the difference.
