There are 2 different discussions that need to work to not conflate.
1. Asian students, typically American, and their intellectual/academic capital and success.
2. H1B labor and the economic issue it presents and potential fraud in the system.

They got into UT, which is a highly competitive school and they almost assuredly didn't do it by gaming the system and getting elite grades in ghetto schools.

Nice attempt at not answering the question. I asked about American citizen kids being given equal standing with local citizens in applications to prestigious government universities.

I said American
I showed the standing issue (test scoring mattering above all else)
I referenced elite universities
If you're hung up on the "public" part then you're wrong in the funniest way possible. Public schools in UK are seen as much lower and obviously top students would get into those with high marks.

Imagine being a Texan with a highly accomplished kid who couldn’t get into UT. And then you see a bunch of non-citizen kids of foreign visa holders taking in-state spots.

The problem here in the US is that we have that intellectual capital at the outset, but then we dumb it down over the course of twelve or thirteen years of public schooling where social design is the focus rather than the study of mathematics and sciences, so it's no surprise that students from other places who are interested in learning actual facts and applying themselves toward objective goals are taking the seats in our universities ahead of our own students who are more concerned with equity & inclusion, and social justice.
Maybe if we got rid of the multiple layers of psycho-babble that is being pushed by the NEA and started teaching subjects that are objectively true and concrete, and demanding the students meet certain performance standards to receive a diploma, maybe - just maybe - we could save this country and provide a better life for the generations to come.

You’re guaranteed admission; not a particular major. Lots of very highly qualified kids want engineering or business, but are only offered something like liberal arts.

You act like this is an insult to A&M - but it is exactly why A&M has expanded its enrollment.
A&M continues to accept as many qualified Texas kids as it possibly can - while Texas bolts for the DEIs and out of state kids that can pay the higher tuition.
