And that’s not what the trade off is here.

It's rural and voted 85 percent for Trump if that gives you an indication what the population is like. Crime is basically zero. I don't get it, it feels like big government keeping an eye on us. Anybody else dealing with this bs?

The software does much more tracking than that—and that’s where the problem lies.

Small agencies with small budgets get access to grants for community safety projects all the time.

Why? These cameras are out in public. Anyone can see you in public. They can take your picture. So what? You are in public.

I understand privacy concerns. But this isn't a private area, it is public. The cameras are not in your home.

I believe these cameras will make me safer by helping to track criminals. I'm really not concerned that a government camera can snap my picture while I'm out in public where anyone can see me anyhow. I just don't see what freedoms I'm giving up to get some added safety for me and my family.

Should I be concerned? Why?

Then don’t leave the house and you’ll get the crime reduction without the hit to “privacy” (which, pst, you don’t actually have in public). Simple fix

I remember in the 1990s thinking my county was safe and wholesome, and then the national news announced my county as the best place in America to hire a hitman.

They put them on Public roads. Your vehicle doesn’t have right to privacy on a public highway. These cameras help solve countless crimes everyday. There was a murder solved recently in my area using a Flock camera. Cameras don’t go to sleep, call in sick or cost overtime. They are a great technology addition for law enforcement.
