I have seen pictures of things when I was much younger, places with "Whites Only" signs and the like, It's really stunning people had this mindset but it's also amazing how quickly most people adapted.
People can be made to believe anything, regardless of how stupid. Jim Crowe laws certainly show that as do the current strains of SJWs and identity politics.

That’s the thing though. A group of one goes against human nature. When most people are deprived of a group they become depressed. We’re naturally social animals. We form ourselves into groups, and further arrange ourselves into social hierarchies in those groups.

Sometimes I stop and wonder how different life would be for me if I'd been born just 1 or 2 generations earlier. Hearing stories like yours.....man, it's almost like an alien planet, or bizarro world, or something.
I never think about it too hard, though, or I'll start crying. I couldn't do life without Aggiebelle, or in a world that precluded us from being happily together.
Like I said. America....strike that....AmericaNS, are friggin' amazing. Imperfect, like all humans, but friggin' amazing overall

There were some folks who had a hard time letting go. My mom took in a young guy who's parents were having a hard time, his younger brother was dying of brain cancer, and a couple of the neighbors didn't like it too much. Most were cool but some of these attitudes hung on until the early 80's for a few people. My younger brothers teammate. She let him stay with us, bought him shoes (we were poor too) and he never forgot her. When he graduated college he recognized her.
He went on to play several years in the NBA.

Absolutely. It's one reason I wish more the Reconstruction had more interest in the minds of the general public. I've read so many amazing books about that time period, up past the CRM, and I'm amazed at the progress we've made. It's one thing Americans, among many, should be proud of, because it wasn't an easy thing to accomplish.

The instinct to congregate remains however. It may have outlasted its usefulness, but it’s still the norm to group oneself with others. Which is why those that refuse are called hermits, or recluses.

While white nationalism isn't a huge problem, it still registers as a problem. Doing away with identity politics at the national level not only will help straighten out most of the progressives, but should also help keep people out of white nationalist groups.

Socially we are a mixed bag. I believe the desire to congregate is based on esteem and security. This too was a survival instinct

The left wing Marxist affinity for race and class warfare has definitely created a backlash. It's very predictable though as that's how politics works
