The dude was no threat to them.
They elected to escalate ... IDENTICAL to the Arbery case.
By your measure, Arbery was at fault because he actually attacked the man with the shotgun.
Then again, Arbery was not an off duty ICE agent, so .... not Arbery's fault.

Of course it was not Arbery's fault, but it has nothing whatsoever with his dayjob.

If this case involved a homeless guy instead of an ICE agent, the couple would have been dragged to the Fresno jailhouse that night.

I haven't heard of any disputes regarding the facts.
Let's try this again.
The guy was asleep.

What actions did the couple take to wake him and force him off the property? You've not heard those details? Welcome to the crowd! None of us have.

What was the nature and level of his intoxication? ETOH, prescription meds, a roofie? You've not heard those details? Welcome to the crowd!

How much force was used to actually push the woman into the car? or did she lose her balance? You've not heard those details? Welcome to the crowd!

WTF difference does it make that the shooting victim was an off duty ICE agent vs a State Farm salesman? Was he armed? What was he doing in the neighborhood? Most importantly, why did the couple neglect notifying the police on multiple occasions?

We were talking about the daughter's actions. The only reporting is that the ICE dude assaulted both the father and the daughter, before there was a shooting.

It's so awesome that billmatt's actual position is that ICE is so inadequately trained and dangerous they are either going to be on-duty firing off celebratory hip shots like Sloth from the goonies OR, when left to their own devices off duty, they will be attacking you in the front yard by hurling their drunken body's at your children while asleep.

While simultaneously claiming this isn't his position.

When ICE says they used self defense in .01% of encounters involving a gun - bad source, can't be trusted, must personally review the tape of all encounters ever.

When local PD with a boss that has a highly visible political agenda says home owner used self defense in very unusual encounter with a bizarre side plot of off duty police officer boyfriend arriving to hand cuff the attacker before any law enforcement was ever alerted - only source available, highly trustworthy

I don't know what we call lesser quality than TEMU, but we've found it in billmatt

Seems the agent was in the wrong here

Listen to the video I posted. From the report, the guy attacked the 72 y.o. FATHER after he was asked to leave, then attacked the DAUGHTER. She called her off-duty cop boyfriend (probably faster response time.) The exact time the police were called is not established.

Sounds like there was an active struggle that ended with the homeowner shooting the aggressor.

His occupation is relevant because:

1) It was the first shooting of an ICE officer (on duty or not) that I could find. That was surprising to me given what we are told about how dangerous the job supposedly is.

2) On duty or not, shows poor judgment. You seriously don't see the difference between an off-duty State Farm agent and an ICE agent?

Maybe

But you still can't shoot someone for being drunk and asleep on your lawn.

Assuming the guy was unarmed? No. At least not at this point ... and certainly not enough of a difference to warrant the fact being blasted in headlines across the country and in this thread. That's nothing but agenda generated, Hoss.

OK. Can we agree you can't shoot blindly through a door and hit someone who isn't the target of ICE enforcement or threatening an ICE agent?

Not unless you specify the circumstances, and then layout your rationale in those cases vs your support of what happened here.

Lol. I don't have any "support" for what happened here. I'm just posting what was reported.

You seem to have your mind made up. If it's ICE doing the shooting, no need to investigate. It's by definition a good shooting.

Speaking of which, it looks like to me that Good was a good shooting. Pretti seems like it probably wasn't. In both cases, it would be at least helpful to hear from the agents why they thought lethal force was justified. Releasing the Pretti phone footage and the agents' bodycam footage would also really help.

I responded to a comment. Am I supposed to apologize for when it was made in the thread?

Most objective people think this incident is evidence of ICE not hiring the best and the brightest. Does this one incident ESTABLISH that? Of course not.

Based on prior behavior by DHS, I don't expect any kind of detailed explanation about this ICE agent. So, people will be able to draw their own conclusions from what is reported or the state prosecution of the ICE agent which will come.

The thing you fail to comprehend is that it's statistically impossible for you to establish this given mathematical facts and a massive sample size of ICE encounters. You'd have to find hundreds of more sleeping drunk ICE guys hurling themselves at children and gun incidents to even begin building a case.

Which leaves you here, again, thrashing around like a retard trying to use astronomically small numbers and a literal handful of cases to affirm that which you seek. Unless your premise is that this one particular agency should be infallible or bust? Is that you?
