I'd be more interested in getting us out of the UN. It is almost openly acknowledged that the UN as a whole is anti USA. Let's get out & sell the building ...any guess how much that prime NYC property is worth?

Y'all seem to be confused about how NATO works. The 2% GDP "contribution" isn't countries paying NATO this amount. That is how much each country is committing to their OWN defense budgets.

The real discussion, if you want to talk about NATO funding, is the shared common costs. The US contributes roughly 15% of the shared costs of NATO Operations. The most recent report shows this amount is roughly $567M (out of our $816 Billion in defense spending).

The US and Germany each cover 16% of the NATO budget. United Kingdom and France cover 11% each. Italy 9%, Canada 7%, Spain 6%. Everyone else under 5%.

Russia under Putin is trying to aggressively reconquer its former imperialist and Soviet boundaries.

Their aggression has nothing to do with NATO expansion.

NATO is not trying to expand like Russia is. Russia’s post Soviet conquest include Georgia,Chechnya, and two Ukrainian invasions. NATO expands by allowing nations who voluntarily join like Sweden and Finland.

Russia is absolutely at fault in this situation. But having said that, the Russian Federation is no longer an immediate threat to Western Europe like the Warsaw Pact was.

We should leave NATO.

Plenty of non-NATO nations around Russia that have been peaceful.

The irony in your post is the biggest reason for the Ukraine/Russia war was due to the actions and existence of NATO.

Now is it possible the war would have still happened w/out NATO? Maybe. We dont know why Ukraine started murdering, torturing and abusing ethnic russian regions of ukraine. Odds are, USA/NATO had a role in ukraine doing that since we installed their current government.

Georgia is in their sphere to control, just like Mexico and Canada for us.. Georgia and Ukraine should get over it, Russia is the dominate dude on their block. People forget, that NATO bombed Serbia or Yogoslavia for months, so Nato in certain parts of eastern Europe is a bad actor.

Yes. We need to worry about our hemisphere, which Trump is doing with the attention to Greenland and Panama. Let the EU and NATO worry about their side. We've paid their way king enough. This isn't post WWII anymore.
The world's changed, plus we can no longer afford to pay their way.

NATO has done nothing but push us closer to war with Russia. We get no benefit, so we should withdraw.

After we saved all their asses in WW2 and since we have the only decent military, NATO countries should be paying us to be a member. We don't need them. They need us and need to start acting like it.
