So. The frick. What? How the hell do you still not get it?

And in the case of transmitting packets, you don't need access to the internet, you just need access to equipment to send and receive them.

In the case of grid power, you need to be "on the grid"
Again. So. The frick. What? Nobody cares if they have "grid power" or not.. they just need reliable power that is there when they need it. Similarly, we need reliable internet that is there when we need it. Satellite and mobile providers cannot offer this currently due to their tiny data caps. Hence, they simply do not compete with cable/fiber internet.

But what the frick does all this have to do with the actual topic? You keep running these dumbass arguments into the ground until they stop making any sense (assuming they did to begin with).

I'm not talking about wireless standards. I'm talking about the FCC standard for broadband.

Do wireless providers meet this standard? yes or no?

The FCC standard for high speed broadband is 25mbps download. A pretty conservative definition compared to international standards.

We went over this, but you know that:

The majority of Americans have 1 or fewer options for high speed broadband.

EDIT: it should also be prefaced this is not truly granular analysis. It only looks at census blocks, as is often the case, not all households have the same availability. In my area people down the street have full ATT service, Its not available on my street. Some houses also aren't positioned for satellite, or can't have it. But the data just looks at if something is available to some people in a census block. So its uglier than the chart actually shows.

Weird it's almost as if the ISPs have created a patchwork network of regulations that give them the great benefits of being a utility.... like public rights of way and eminent domain..... yet they keep slipping through the bad parts.

Yet we should totally relax the most significant customer protection they have to obey..... they aren't a monopoly via cartel using government regulation to restraint the free market at all

I realize this is shocking but if of is a conservative based on core principles they aren't going to with liberals very often

That's not partisan. Its just reality

Like bitching about a socialist for being "partisan" for rarely agreeing with conservatives

I mean no shite LOL

Then why the frick don't I have gig fiber at my house?

You have some broadband, don't you? It might not be the ferrarri, but you've at least got a Honda.

The federal government divies the nation into "blocks" which are typically at the county level. They ensure that every block has broadband access. Each year, broadband providers are required to increase the percentage of customers within those blocks that have access to their services. They also provide grant funding to ISP's in more rural areas to encourage them to expand services to more and more isolated communities. So, yes, yes they do, even though their requirements are not nearly as strict as the true utilities like municipal water (limited by city limits, unincorporated areas do not need to have centralized water systems), grid power, and telephone service (AT&T).

It really is a simple yes or no question.

The fact you're unwilling to answer this says much.
The fact that you keep asking this irrelevant question says much.

For good reason. They don't compete with cable/fiber internet providers.

He's desperately trying to salvage his initial argument, but not even this Trumpkin bastion is buying it, which is telling.
