Opposite is true. Giving the FCC oversight of anything makes it less free and creates barriers for any free market solutions
The tech companies have a lot of power consolidated in a few hands but the FCC is not the solution and in fact further incentives a quid pro quo relationship like pharmaceutical companies have with the FDA.

Seems kind of dumb to let Hicksville run septic lines directly into streams and ruin the drinking water in Tardsville. Far easier on the states if they have a federal rule to establish that minimum criteria for them.
