The whole point is not letting other people curate your news for you. You have to think for yourself. Pretty clear you don't get that.

I asked a very specific questions, of which you did not answer. You in turn, however, jump to some interesting conclusions. Weird.

TD has the most up to date news on the internet. I'll see a thread on here about something hours before the regular media has picked it up.

Not only that but it's fun and enlightening to talk to people from all over the country and get insight on important stories in their area.

Besides that, after talking with all the LSU fans on TD and becoming internet friends with some of them, I now am an LSU fan except when they play UGA.

You asked me to recommend news sources online in response to my post which stated that relying on people on a college football website to curate your political news is folly. You kind of walked into that.

A place where many articles from many different sources are posted for you to read and then discussed by a nice range of people from your geographical area? That's literally the perfect source for news.

Watching a scripted actor on an electric box bark his opinion at you as fact with 0 discussion and then going to bed is no way to absorb news and current events.

Yep

I check here and if I see an interesting topic I'll research it.

To be fair, the nanosecond am event happens there is a flood of links, videos, Twitter screen caps, Facebook posts, and quotes two clicks away.

Both national, international and local to south LA

The question is where the hell else am I supposed to get my news?

This board is obviously very right leaning but its really more libertarian in nature. Barring some serious trolling, no one is censored and the views are unfiltered unlike cable news. A all for listening to views I don't agree with but you have to back it up with reason and facts. bullshite gets called out no matter who it is.

Hell - there was a sticky the other day celebrating the fact that Jeff Sessions got fired so its not some conservative circle jerk.

Calling this just a "college football message board" is disingenuous. It has turned into much more than that you must admit.

Also, I don't see anything wrong with getting the majority of your news from a message board. You get almost every piece of news from around the web and tv all in one place.

I tend to filter through the obvious "outrage" threads, and look for the real topics. I also try to skip over the obvious troll replies, and echo chamber replies, and search for alternative views on the subject.

The above method is a much more objective source of forming opinions than simply watching what cable news has turned into.

Don't rely on a bunch of people you already agree with to curate your sources for you. It's just indulgent reinforcement of your own beliefs.

OI don't agree with you an many things. You start topics here. I read those topics.

This board is a more efficient way to keep abreast of current events (Conservative and liberal.... Local, national and international) than any other I can think of.

List a single better one and I will check it out.

If the message board is filled with people who generally only represent one viewpoint (and shout down any others with numbers) then the "majority of your news" will be in support of those views. And that's what most people here are after anyway so fair play. Enjoy it. But that's not for me and I think it's a pretty narrow way to consume current events.

If you have an opposing viewpoint supported by verifiable fact, why do you care how many shout you down? I know I do not.

I get most of my news here also. Literally most events locally and nationally can be found here a good 10-30 minutes before it is confirmed and made public. I just read about Dez Bryant tearing his achilles that is just one example.

Another example would be the Bama fan killed in the bar in Ponchatoula. While the media was painting it as 2 LSU fans killing a Alabama fan over the game. It was very quickly discovered and revealed that this wasn't LSU fans and it had nothing to do with him being a Bama fan. It was all over what a female was doing. The media still hasn't fully dropped the narrative of this being about the game.
