First off $8 billion is a tiny amount... One single state (Texas) spent $22 billion on infrastructure/roadways in one year alone. $8 billion is a rounding error in our nation's annual infrastructure spending.

Second, building a wall that reduces illegal immigration most certainly will impact you and your family as the welfare state continues to expand to serve the needs of illegals. Not to mention the impact on schools and healthcare.

That may be the stupidest most short-sighted conclusion I've seen here on TD in many moons.
Illegal aliens raise the costs of education, health care and incarceration, lower hourly wages and the standard of living for those unaffected you cite. All while bringing in drugs, child sex slaves and worse highly contagious diseases.

Trump is more interested in winning in 2020 than in intellectually governing...not that he knows how. All ego, no substance.

The wall is infrastructure. Once we quit putting millions of illegals on the government dole each year, we’ll have more money to allocate to roads and bridges inside that wall.

So why is the solution to spend money on a border wall?

Simple. Obstruct Trump at every move; prevent any Trump win. It's all about doing everything they can to regain power in 2020, even if it damages the country.

That should sound really, really familiar to you...

Because land mines are frowned upon.

Almost completely zero. Three or four major bridges/dams across the entire country . $8billion is the smallest of drops in the bucket regarding our infrastructure needs, it’s completely inconsequential.

Our needs run into the trillions. The Wall being built has zero impact.

$8 billion for a wall to solve a political campaign rallying cry.

How much of an effect did that 150 billion that Obama delivered to Iran, on pallets, in the dead of night, have on 99% of American lives? That sure would have paved our roads, fixed our highways and transportation system.

I'm good with that last two. I'm not in favor of arming MS-13 members with military armament.

Texas roads are getting much better. Tolled express lanes. Public private partnerships. We haven't raised the gas tax in forever, and I hope we never do.

The biggest mistake I think Greg Abbott and Dan Patrick have done as governor/lt gov is eliminate toll roads from TxDOT's long term plans.

Managed toll lanes have been wildly successful in my view. I wouldn't be opposed to shifting the burden around and making the companies pay for the non-tolled main lanes in some capacity, but otherwise, it's been a solid strategy.

apparently, the only important infrastructure is that cockamamie wall.
