I went to bed at 7:30pm central time on November 8, 2016 thinking Hilary had won and I didn't want to even bother with any TV for the next few weeks. But my phone rang which woke me up at around 9:45pm and it was my dad asking me if I was watching. I said no because I don't want to see Hilary's coronation. He then said it looks like Trump might win and I turned on the TV and sure enough saw what was going on.

Thanks dad for calling me otherwise I would have never woken up and never would have been able to watch the media melts in real time.

I didn't go to bed until 9am the next morning. It was an event to be cherished.

No way was I going to miss Morning Joe and CNN's morning shows.

You have a good dad. I went to bed at 1:30 am the next morning and I had to get up at 3:50 am for work!! But it was worth it. I plan on taking vacation in 2020 for the election.

I stayed up guzzling bourbon until 3am in celebration. I had a fantastic hangover at work the next day but didn’t even care

I taught Political Communication on Tuesday nights. I bought my students pizza and we watched the returns and I treated class like a newsroom would work on election night. I had students watching Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio - because those were the battlegrounds.

About 8:00, one of my students suggested we watch Pennsylvania. By 8:30 it was obvious Florida was going Trump and the whole class was WHY ARENT THEY CALLING IT!

Class was over at 9, but many stayed until 11. By that time, it was obvious Trump was winning and students were starting to catch on what was happening in our media.

Ye of little faith.

I sat there with 2 of my friends an we sipped some fine whiskey.

And took shots of the cheap shite for each state he flipped red.

We got drunk.

Morning Joe

Speaking of, remember Mark Halprin that used to be on every morning and then he fell from a grace a while back because he couldn't keep his hands off the womenz that he had worked with? Well, his latest book "How to Beat Trump" only sold 502 copies the first week it was published.

My 2 boys (13 and 11 at the time) also thanked me for the 2:30am wakeup call to watch Trump deliver his victory speech. Both are proud members and leaders of their Young Republicans chapter at high school.

I normally call my mom at 10:00 pm before going to bed. It’s a ritual since my dad passed away. She had quit watching and said, “I can’t believe Hillary is going to be President” to which I replied “turn on the news...Trump is gaining and could win”

We spoke off and on until 3:00 am in amazement. We were so excited and wished dad and brother were with us to share the moment.

I stayed up late watching the NYTs meter commenting on here and watching people melt down on the cable news channels and drinking some fine German beer.

I drank that night/morning too, but it was in disbelief and despair. I still to this day can't believe that man was elected POTUS (even though he lost the popular vote by millions).

I went to sleep around 8pm. We were still working on the house after the flood so I was worn out. I went to bed thinking this would be another 2000 election but with the parties reversed. Boy was I wrong.
