I drank that night/morning too, but it was in disbelief and despair. I still to this day can't believe that man was elected POTUS (even though he lost the popular vote by millions).
Helps your electoral vote count when you run a platform that is for more than the folks in NY and CA.
Food for thought.

My wife went to bed early that night. I woke her up like around 12:30 that night and told her.
It was an incredible night.
Hopefully we get to relive it.

I was fishing in South Dakota (walleye) with my dad and uncle. We finished for the evening, docked the boat had dinner and headed to bed. It was around 8:00.
I used to run campaigns for candidates in Iowa and understand the fundamentals of returns pretty well - which precincts are reported versus not, which states etc. all can paint a picture. I flipped on the TV to see how bad Trump was getting beat and realized that he had a chance.
I person I met a few weeks before texted me a question about a couple of things and my response to her was he did have a chance, but it was going to be a long night.
I pulled together a group text with a bunch of old friends who work in politics (some are in the WH now) and we started gaming the scenarios of Trumps path.
About 11 central I decide he has won based on the data available and start scrolling through the more leftist news channels for reactions (CNN and MSNBC in particular). At some point I fall asleep with the TV on.
About 4 in the morning my dad wakes me as he is covering me up - I fell asleep just on the couch and the cabin was cool to cold by that point. When I wake up the conversation went like this:
Dad (looking at the TV): "what's this shite?" mostly because it was on MSNBC.
Me: "I was watching the election returns and fell asleep."
Dad: "Why MSNBC? How bad did we lose?"
Me: "MSNBC because their reactions were the most entertaining. Trump won"
Dad (turning to look at the TV): "bullshite. How did you get this on the TV?"
He seriously thought I was playing some sort of prank on him at this point. Like I somehow had the TV showing fake results with MSNBC people continuing to melt down.
Me: "Seriously, Trump is president elect. How the heck do you think I can control the TV?"
Dad: "Seriously? bullshite. He won? How the hell?"
Then that whole scene repeated itself when my uncle came in the room.
It was an awesome morning.

I LOVVVVVVED CNN that night
watching wolf blitzer cry for the analyst to find a way..any way..to make it so hillary could win was one of the best forms of entertainment i've ever had.
he was literally like 'but we WILLED her to win; this can't be right'

the best Best BEST B-E-S-T part of the night is CNN/wolf blitzer refusing to call the election even as Trump was LIVE ACTUALLY WALKING OUT ON STAGE TO ACCEPT.
wolf hastily said 'cnn now predicts donald trump has won' as Trump was halfway to the podium.
oh my

I do my best. I am one of the few conservatives left in academia. I have to hide it in certain situations, but that night, I may have let it come out in the form of "What you are seeing is amazing. The polls were completely wrong."
The Eastern Time Zone of Florida was mostly in and Trump had a decent lead. One of my students said, the part that isn't in is basically Alabama so they should go ahead and call it!
No offense to the Panhandle.
It was a fun night. I had vote totals on the white board doing calculations on what each candidate needed to catch the other, then we would display maps of what areas were in. It was great to see liberal students and conservative students not swayed by opinion, but rather looking at fact. They indicated that they enjoyed the process.
I teach that class every fall - Ive already requested to move it to Tuesday night for next fall.

I would love to see this class in action next year. It would be fascinating to watch young minds saturated with facts that expose the frauds in the media.

I started drinking right after work and planned on going to bed whenever Trump lost one of the swing states like Florida, NC, or Ohio. Figuring it would be an early night, I was already pretty hammered by the time polls started closing at 7pm. And I didn't stop as Trump kept picking up state after state. By the time it was clear that he was going to win I was drunk as hell and celebrated for an hour or two before passing out just before he gave his victory speech.
What a great night, cant wait to do it again next year
