We have blockaded any Iran shipping activity.

One ship was shot and several have been turned around by the IRGC navy.
So I was simply asking why if we are controlling the straight.

I'm shocked we are actually taking Iran's threats close / attack and sink a tanker in the straight seriously.
That would worse for them than it would be for us. The fallout from the oil spill/environmental damage would be the worst we've seen since Deepwater and would drag on for years eroding any support from the greenies. Depending on how big of a ship and how it sunk the straight could remain closed for more than a year while the vessel is salvaged or removed. This would block traffic for everyone and cutoff Irans trade partners.
If you remember the Evergreen in the Suez the worldwide financial impact to this would be on a scale we've never seen if they were able to block the shipping channels with a sunken tanker.
The straight is the only card they have left. There is no good reason they would set it on fire IMHO.

Whether Iran blocks other ships or not, the US Navy guarantees not a single parcel will successfully enter or leave Iranian ports until there is a peace agreement.

More like a couple of Iranian bass boats fired some shite at a few ships. No damage and like the rest of the blockage it’s more threat than physical action.
