He needs to use his capital now to convert La. to a no income tax state. This would be a huge payoff for La. with the exodus of businesses leaving socialist states.

We have to keep Republicans in state office for as long as possible just to combat DEI rot in the institutions

I'm okay with the general framework whereby TERM LIMITED state officials have to really piss of the electorate to not get reelected (sure, it's not commonplace, but it has certainly happened numerous times historically).
I'm not sure why anyone would generally not be so. There's some benefit to a governor that the electorate generally likes (disregarding one's personal preference) getting to serve 8 years versus 4, don't you think?

His original election to the office didn't signal he was a well-liked candidate.
I do not anticipate an excited electorate will turn out to re-elect him, either. I anticipate another abysmal turnout.
Yes, Louisiana would likely benefit greatly from a candidate that is well-liked and who is actually able to energize voters. I do not expect to see another one in my lifetime.

I didn't want to make a blanket statement that no candidate energized voters in my lifetime. I only started paying attention when I hit voting age. Maybe Edwin Edwards was well-liked and energized voters? I don't know. I recall that Mike Foster was pretty well-liked.

Maybe if it trickles down. Richland parish and Vermillion parish aren't huge population centers for the state.

I think it's hilarious that your expectation of the Governor of LA is that you should be able to call him and speak to him directly on the phone.
I managed correspondence for an LA congressman in DC, the sheer amount of emails, letters and phone calls is insane.

I have no idea where any money will end up in this state. I am constantly surprised when it mostly disappears.
