If I move, I’ll be living in my car until I find a job. I’ve been trying to find jobs out of state, but I can’t move before landing said job. I’ve interviewed for 4 out of state jobs the past 2 weeks.

Really? You have any idea there are construction companies paying $15+/hour for clean up work? This was minimum wage labor 10 years ago but now it's so hard to get people who are willing to sweat, not steal, show up on time everyday, and pass a basic drug test. We paid guys upwards of $17/hour to load pallets and load them onto a truck and the sorry tPOS's would dissappear after one or two paychecks.

I know a guy who moved here from CA and lived in his van and friends couches until he saved enough to buy his first rental property to fix up. Talking a $20k crack house. Now he has duplexes and a his own small real estate business.

I don’t know if there’s something that pops up when they look me up, but I’ve applied and gotten nothing. I used to work as a goddamn estimator/planner/sheduler. I’ve interviewed for a dozen similar positions and gotten nothing. Hopefully my bar exam results come back positive, so in a month’s time I can start taking court appointed work.

To ignore that driver of wealth for previous generations that is no longer, at least at the moment, available to Millenials seems myopic to me.
Myopic is a way of life for the authoritarian baws on this board.

The U.S. GDP rose from ~$1 trillion in 1970 to ~$6 trillion in 1990 -- a 6 fold increase.

It rose from ~ $6 trillion in 1990 to ~ $15 trillion in 2010 -- a 2 1/2 fold increase.

Try not to quibble with the figures and admit that, in general, the economy was expanding at a much faster pace for boomers than for millennial.
A rising tide floats all boats.

The job market is worse now too. One of my partner's sons has a BS in biology and applied for a contract (full time, but for a limited duration) basic lab research job posted by local company which was for 3 job openings. They got 125 applications and 25 of the applicants had masters degrees.

This wasn't history major looking for a job.

^ This just because you have a degree in a certian field doesn't mean you have to look for work in said field.

To me most college degrees show that you have atleast the ability to learn

If you are revealing this on your application, they would be foolish to hire you, knowing you are waiting on the results of your bar exams.

And the hr resume sorting program will throw your resume in the trash along with the other 200 resumes that don’t have the exact verbage degree they’re looking for. Whether or not you can actually do the job is irrelevant if you can’t get through the sorting system to get your resume viewed by a real person who works that job.

Liberal policies have lead to the problem you are talking about.

Liberals want open borders = 1. Wage depressor in construction 2. Government spending taxpayer money on illegals instead of infrastructure which would fund good paying jobs.

Globalization = The financial aid sent to other countries , bad trade deals which frick the USA and helps prosper other countries.

Taxation = Only 53% of the country paying Federal Income Taxes , while the other 47% sucks at the teat. Yet , Liberals only bitch about the rich , but NEVER complain about the 47% WHO DO NOT "pay their fair share".

I could go on and on , The fact is Liberals aren't analytical , they like "shiny objects" like "free college".

Anyone with common sense knows , open borders , globalization and unfair taxes are the driving forces behind low paying jobs.

Lol yup. While I spent like 2 years trying getting into med school after I got a BS in Biology I couldn’t get a research job either. Not even a research assistant. A STEM degree, pretty much useless without another degree or multiple years of experience in the field.

spent that time in an “experience” building job instead of earning decent money in order to get a medical education that will cost at least double as much as the prior generations education in principal and interest rates.... with a stagnant amount of residency positions with increased competition.

...but millineals are just cry babies because they can’t afford the same opportunities boomers afforded while working part time construction. If only followed this board’s advice when I was 18 I would’ve just became an electrician making 6 figures within 1 year of my GED.

I also had to move >1000 miles to find a job. Found one in an industry that was exploding at the time (during the .com boom). I then moved again away from NYC to a place 880 miles away where I could afford a home. Didn’t want to do it but it didn’t make sense financially to stay.

Find a job in a growing industry in a growing city and you’ll do just fine!

How is attending a state school expensive?

Can be pretty rough in the North. Copied this from Nasser State as an example:

IN-STATE FRESHMEN
Tuition and fees (12-18 credits per semester): $14,522
Room and board (double room/silver meal plan): $10,322
Total for two semesters: $24,844

NON-MICHIGAN FRESHMEN
Tuition and fees (12-18 credits per semester): $39,827
Room and board (double room/silver meal plan): $10,322
Total for two semesters: $50,149

Lol I never said I was forced to do anything, lmao, anyway its an idiotic argument too. Its not about being forced to do anything...at all. It’s about it being a MORE difficult journey along the SAME path. As in boomers had it easier to walk to same life path. Seems to directly support the idea that millineals have it harder.

Sounds like someone should have FORCED you to to borrow money to go to college so your reading comprehension would be better. I feel for you.

I don’t disclose it when applying for Construction jobs, but I do include going to law school since otherwise it would look like I had a weird gap in employment.

So I guess I’m just screwed in the short term, huh? Besides, wouldn’t that not matter for out of state jobs seeing as I’d have to wait 6 months after taking another bar exam just to be locensed to practice there?

What are you talking about? I’m not speaking or success, I’m speaking of relative means of living between two generations.

That generation was remarkably successful. And they are older than you. You weren’t around when they were having their hard times. I’m right in there middle of Boomers, Xers and Milleneals. I seent it.

Boomers had it easier - same adjusted income at half the cost.
Simply untrue. Have a look at interest rates if you think money was easier to come by. Good grief.
