With any common sense, this is the best time to be alive in history.
Never been easier. The only headwind milenials have is added competition. People in developing nations (that don’t use technology for Snapchat and Facebook) are becoming serious contenders in the marketplace.

But compare to a US millennial that has access to tens of thousands of dollars in education, native speakers, geographical location advantage.... they still have a massive advantage. But they don’t use it.

Most posters in here are exemplifying a “back in my day mentality.”
Nope. I’m telling you you have massive advantages today.

Work and sacrifice was still required. You seem to be leaving thst part out. And the myth that one could have menial job and afford a nice house is...mythical.

When I was in my twenties I still remember a/c being optional when buying a car or truck.

There's a reason why "older" people (like me) call manual transmissions "standard" transmissions.

In addition to all the government imposed safety shite:

automatic transmissions
climate control-A/C
am/fm radio w/ either satellite/aux-inputs
intermittent wipers
power locks
power windows
hell...power fricking steering

were all options "back in the day" and are standard equipment now.

The first car I ever bought came with a standard/manual transmission with the A/C and AM/FM/Cassette radio as options. Those alone added about $1000 to the price of the car in 1990. No power windows, locks, anything.

The fact they are not options don't mean they don't factor into the price of the vehicle.

One of the more ridiculous things posted by Millennials.

My pop fit into this category. He worked his arse off for 15 years before he could afford a house in a rough part of town.

Don’t you know how difficult their lives are now?
Which streaming service do I watch?
Which delivery service do I use to bring me my lunch?
Which of the 200 varieties of coffee, beer, cider, and bottled water do I choose today?
I’m sorry they were duped into believing that a degree in post civil war hump back whale breeding behaviors didn’t have a high paying job waiting for them.
These kids need a foot in their arse and knuckles across their jaw to realize everything isn’t handed to you and you need to work for things.
I really hope this causes the next generation to sack up and come on strong.

If I wanted a job, I could find a decent one in 4 hours, and I haven't worked on a real job in years.

It's all about having marketable skills. If it's hard for you, that's because you made it hard for yourself, or at least, didn't make it easier, by pursuing a valuable profession.

The guy you’re arguing with made 27k/year at 24 and makes 250-300k at 31.

I’m hardworking, determined, moved across the country a few times and yet don’t have my head in the sand because I see what’s gone on and is going on around me.

Continued government mandates and intrusion into the industry are driving the cost of all vehicles up.

I was poor as shite throughout my 20s ( rich in experience though). I haven’t been on a payroll in over 15 years. I lost my life savings at age 40 with four dependents and had to create my own gig. It’s fricking life. We all have to make our way, your weasely generation too.
I think people that have not had their own gig have no clue what it’s like. Someone in this thread b@tvhed about 1-2 year internship. Try owing a business someday.

I could take a 25 year old right now, who was articulate , hard working and willing to work 40 hours a week and teach him how to make a 6 figure income in year two.
Yep. We prefer to hire young people rather than pHDs. But the number one requirement is trainability and motivation.

My daughter is 20 and in year two of college and has almost 80 credit hours. She also makes 40 bucks an hour on her side gig that she created. Quit whining and step up.
You should brag more. You must be very proud.

I'm the last of gen x, I think millenials are indoctrinated pussies. All objective evidence clearly shows they are the most privileged generation in world history

Sure college debt is a problem, but it’s only a problem for people who didn’t use their college years to obtain a marketable degree.

College costs much more (adjusting for inflation) for "marketable" degrees too. Any it's not just tuition. It's fees, textbooks, dorms, etc. A lot of colleges force students to live on campus for some or part of the time. Gone are the days of working part-time jobs to pay for college. It's just not possible for most students, even at LSU where tuition is covered by TOPS.

Only if you have atrocious spending habits.

The homes people lived in, the cars people drove 30 years ago, most Millennials would not touch today.
