Florida's DeSantis has 'grim reaper' threat for businesses defying coronavirus restrictions

quote:

DeSantis said there would be “no tolerance” for that type of activity and he has told officials to “just suspend the license,” giving Department of Business and Professional Regulation Secretary Halsey Beshears the nickname “the grim reaper” for business licenses.

On Monday, state officials suspended a liquor license for a pub near the University of Central Florida,

Disobey me and I will SEND my GRIM REAPER!

The Covid argument on both sides is stupidity, but if you are going to go after one, both have blame.

Technically, he is right. Just like I am right in pointing out that people in my area (Miami) were being arrested for breaking covid rules. Those rules were allowed by the order of DeSantis.

Of course. He left a lot of things open to local officials. ESPECIALLY very early on when we didn’t really know what was going to happen. The aforementioned quote was from 3 months into the pandemic when the numbers were high in florida.

That first summer in 20 and then July-September were easily our busiest in palm beach county in terms of hospitalizations.

To use this as some bullshite gotcha when cutting out half of the quote is disingenuous at best though.

This was still early enough in the pandemic that Ron was trying to go with a lot of the federal guidelines. We were still operating at 50 percent capacity in restaurants though and could at least do shite compared to the rest of the nation (unless you had stricter measures such as broward, dade, maybe some of Tampa metro).

Limiting clubs from going balls to the wall wasn’t an unreasonable measure at the time.

It doesn't really matter to me what you think. It is what I know.

I don't care about your troll attempts. You backhanded attacks in other threads. Your lack of an ability to do anything other than that speaks way more to the board than those troll attempts.

People in my area were being arrested in March 2021 for breaking covid restrictions based off the power delegated to them.

Businesses where closed too. By that same power.

The covid fight is stupidity on both sides, but if you are going to attack one, be consistent. By not doing so, you show that it's not really about covid.

So he was all in on doing Fauci’s bidding. How is that a positive?

Yet you and your ilk put Trump on blast for “doing the same thing” (even though he let the states decide their own course of action).

Make up your mind.
