Didn’t matter if you were a Republican or Democrat, black or white, man or woman....We could all agree that we hated the Soviets. And there was nothing better than being an American living in the greatest nation on earth: The U.S.A.

I miss those days

That's funny you mention it. I was thinking the same thing the other day. You remember the fall out shelter sings on larger buildings and the civil defense siren? It was nice having a clear enemy.

Yep. On the advice of our government you might stand a chance to live if the big blast came if you just hunkered down under your school desk.

I remember the cold war...and the democrats and the media were doing their anti American schtick since at least Vietnam. Reagan had the ability to Babylon Bee them. Trump is more incredible hulk.

Plenty of leftists were constantly defending the USSR and their satellites during the Cold War so not all agreed by any stretch.

Hell remember Bernie Sanders honeymooned in the USSR.

You must not remember well. The democrats were busy sidling up to the USSR and lambasting Reagan for thinking they were anything but permanent. Remember Ted Kennedy striking deals with the Soviets to help defeat Reagan in 1984...
quote:

Kennedy’s message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. “The only real potential threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations,” the memorandum stated. “These issues, according to the senator, will without a doubt become the most important of the election campaign.”

In defense of them, those desks were pretty damn sturdy

And this was in stark contrast to his brother telling the Russians to keep their damn nuclear missiles out of Cuba and take them back home.

The "I've read obituaries with great pleasure" quote had never been more fitting than the day this POS croaked.

No doubt the wads of gum stuck on the bottom helped sturdy them up.

Its not that the USA doesn't have a clear enemy now, its that the Democrats will always be on the clear enemies side.

I was born in 1990 so don’t exactly remember it, but I watched Red Dawn the other day and got seriously aroused
