If you are truly want to save lives then get your butt to China. At this very moment they are waging genocide against the Uyghurs. This is true horror that the media mostly ignores. They ignore it because China owns them.
The Ukraine border dispute has come nowhere close to it in terms of lives lost.
You are letting yourself be manipulated by the media.

Look, you don't have to go and tote a rifle although they will take you probably to do so. You don't speak Ukrainian or Russian so you are going to be a liability in combat but don't take that personally--you have to Shoot, Move and Communicate and well, 2 out of 3 makes you die fast.
That said, there are TONS of things that can be done and they apparently need all the help they can. Civil defense is a real thing. Best of luck on your decision.
I stopped everything I was doing to go and enlist in 2003 because there was a real live shooting war on and didn't get my first sight of the elephant until 2008.
