I know a lot of GOPers hate tariffs. I have an idea to counter Trump’s tariffs.

Since tariffs are a tax call your representative to pass income tax legislation to offset tariff increases. Rand, Massiie and others principled conservatives should be passing income tax cut legislation to neutralize Trump tariffs.

I think that's really the plan.

Shift us away from income taxes to consumption type taxes.

You can see the beginnings of it with the chipping away like no tax on tips, no tax on social security, no tax on overtime.

How about no tariffs and no income tax. Why does it have to be one or the other when we can just not do either?

The stated goal of Trump’s tariffs is $500 billion in tax revenue.

Why do we want the government to have more money when they are just wasting the money that they already have? Just cut spending.

For like the 9000 time, Trump doesn’t want tariffs. Once the other country drops theirs we drop ours.

Even when it doesn’t work, all they’ll have to do is get a few Twitter bots with blue checkmarks to pump that narrative out in a few months and you’ll all believe it

You were singing goddam Jenny Mccarthy’s praises today, so it’s pretty obvious you’ll believe anything

That's the other part of the plan and where DOGE comes in.

Tax imports, not income.

That's what Trump is doing, but the "principled conservatives" will fight him every step of the way because they can't see the forest for trees.

Their argument against tariffs is proof. Their whole argument is that it will increase prices. That's it. That's all they examine. The price for only the item being tariffed. They are oblivious to any other effect.

The problem with "principled" people is their tunnel vision. There's only one way to do things to them, and they look at everything as if it is unrelated to anything else.
