For me to make the observation that Trump grew permanent Washington and went "big gov't" in 2020, I have to believe that all it's going to take to fix Washington is a few good appointments?

Seriously, that's stupid.

So what is DeSantis going to do? Decrease the federal budget by 5-10%? Reduce the federal government bureaucracy by a million or so people? Move 75% of federal agencies to places spread across the US and decentralize DC? None of that will happen.

You think it's very important that Trump be reelected so he can take the fight to the deep state.

Not really. As I said, I'd be fine with DeSantis or Trump, or probably a good number of other people.

And you think it's all a lost cause. There is no way out of the mess we're in short of some conflict (that's how I took your "voting" isn't going to fix it comment).

Ultimately, that's correct.

This latest DC bullshite indictment has sealed it for me. I’m voting for Trump.

Honest question because I read this a lot, and I don't get it.

Why would corrupt Dems indicting Trump influence in any way the choice you have to make, Trump or DeSantis?

It pisses me off that some of these SELF PROCLAIMED Republicans/conservatives ripping Trump a new one were just fine with expecting me to cast a vote for fricking John McCain or Mitt Romney…which I did…

Same. I hate Mitt Romney more than Obama. At least Obama was honest about the fact that my opinion was meaningless to him.

You seem to suggest the president can control what leaders people elect in various congressional districts.

The President does have some levers he can pull to control spending.

Cutting the rate of growth of the letter agency budgets won't be that hard. That is small, but I would start there.

Trump being the nominee means you're riding with the DEM b/c Trump has no path to victory.

No I’ve freely admitted I doubt any of the Republicans can win but that’s not going to sway me from voting for the Republican. That’s all I can do on my side.. I’m going to try. I could have said the same to you for Romney and McCain when I was expected to vote for them, but I sure as Hell wasn’t voting Obama nor did I talk shite about both of the eventual Republican nominees, Reagan’s 11th. So now folks like you are too good to return the favor? Because like it or not, as I have said, it’s Trump or the Dem as it has shaped up.

I know it won’t be Dem, but you have some skin in the game. Where are you leaning?

Well, first - I'm confident he won't do what Trump did and spend more than any other president in history in a single term.

What if he can't reduce the federal budget by 10%, but is able to lead Republicans in freezing spending? Is that impossible? Would it not be a good first step?

What if it wasn't 75% of federal agencies moved into the interior, but 20%. Wouldn't that be an accomplishment?

I'm not a defeatist. It's not even clear to me why you give a shite who the president is, because it seems like you believe we'll be no worse off with Biden in the office than we would be with Trump or DeSantis.

Sir, I was the original John McCain hater on here. I'd have NEVER told you to vote for him.

I was, in fact, called a DEM (just like now) for calling him the worst.

As a pro Trump guy I 100% agree. DeSantis is a young guy who can save America from the dementia in chief.

Would be a very good marketing strategy. Again this is no shot at Trump, just my opinion.

Yes I’ve grown over the years to call it a dead heat with this. However as shitty as Romney is,/was he wouldn’t have been the colossal frick up Obama has proven to be. His ceiling of policy trash was capped a lot lower than Big Mike’s hubby. Just look at all the crap we deal with today due to Obama. It’s truly astounding!

Because I don’t believe this involves only corrupt Democrats. Democrats aren’t the problem. They’re half of the problem. The other half is the other half of the political establishment.

Trump’s own party insiders DETEST him. They also detest Trump’s voters. They think they are our betters. They have as much to gain as Democrats by taking Trump out bc they think they’ll be able to have things go back to the way that they used to be.

Desantis is a good governor and very qualified. I agree with him on many things. He’s probably more ideologically conservative than Trump. That’s great. But we need more than good tax policy right now. Desantis is not winning over anyone who isn’t totally devoted to that worldview, and not everyone in the country is devoted to that worldview.

This Lawfare stuff is an existential threat to a free society. I am Voting for the guy who has the most to gain by winning that war.
