I feel like a stranger in my own country re: St. Louis couple getting criticized

I’d love to think that a mob of 100 loud, frenzied people breaking down a private gate and threatening a home owner is more than enough justification for him to pull out a gun just in case things escalate.
I really feel like in any other time in our history, even as late as like 2007 or something, nobody would have a problem with what they did.
The idea that someone living on a private street shouldn’t be concerned when a mob destroys a gate to gain access to the street is beyond me.
It would never even cross my mind that a big chunk of people would have a problem with it.

I feel the same way.
I do not like or recognize what we’ve become.

Where do you think you are? America?

Given the anti-capitalist “eat the rich” tenor of the protests, only an idiot would say that the people living on Portland Place had nothing to fear.

Well what do you expect BLM and Antifa are a bunch of spoiled losers. However the positive if this was it showed all of America that if you want to keep these assholes off your property you need to show then you are not fricking around. I expect to see more of this the more they try to go to the suburbs.

no one would make such a claim and genuinely mean it.
the left is certainly out there gas-lighting away and feigning outrage, but they know better. Everyone knows better.

Off topic but I love how people here are defending these people for exercising their rights even though they're rich ambulance chasers, which most people detest.
With the left, generally injustices only count if its someone they like.
I think most here would say they dont like lawyers on a whole but people are still calling out the injustice.

Oh, you didn’t see the part that the Twitter idiots didn’t want you to see? Amazing!
Not blaming you.
The McCloskey’s house is the first house on the right past this gate. Breaking a wrought iron gate down took some time and made some noise. I’m sure they had plenty of time to get worried.

A 1-year-old was shot in Chicago this weekend yet people defending their home are apparently the real threat to black people.

And you have people like The Spleen and Lester Earl that tie themselves in to a pretzel trying to defend them.

You are right that the culture is out of whack, but there is really only one thing that matters here. There have been multiple videos of people using guns (both discharging them and merely brandishing them) in the face of the roving mobs. In every single instance, these people back the frick off when someone decides it's time to protect themselves with a firearm. When things get real, all the mob resolve melts away. I think it's just going to take more of those kinds of exchanges for people to "get it."

My problem was the lack of muzzle awareness by the dude and the way the wife was holding the pistol...

Not apart of the chunk here. Trust me, Twitter isn’t real life.
